Gus Malzahn = SEC Champ yr1, Golden = 5th in ACC yr 3

Great post, why can't Miami fans see that our hands have been tied for 3 years?
Auburn recruiting class ranking since 2010

2010 #4 recruiting class according to rivals
2011 #7 recruiting class according to rivals
2012 #10 recruiting class according to rivals
2013 #8 recruiting class according to rivals

Lets stop acting like Gus had to overhaul the roster or something. He stepped into a team filled with talented kids at every position.

This thread is why Miami fans have the reputation that they have

Worst in the nation

Heard the same garbage when some of us started calling Shannon a piece of ****.

Here come the Don Bailey Jr disciples out da woodwerks. Let the excuses flow.

It has nothing to do with coaches. It has to do with stupid people latching on to UM football and being allowed to sign up on message boards.

I have an undergrad and law degree from UM, and think Golden is dog ****. What attachment do you have to the school, ****shoe? You're a mouthy little ******.

I agree with what you're saying...but I'm pretty sure our definition of who the "stupid" people are differs.

Anyone who gives Onfrio (or Golden if he doesn't fire him) a pass through 3 full years should do us all a favor and find another team to root for. Since when did this sort of mediocrity become "ok" for this program?

This program is a sleeping giant which has been victimized for the last 10 years by some of the worst coaching/development/talent management in this history of college football. The problem started BEFORE probation.

Coaching makes a HUGE difference in college football. I'll argue to death with anyone who even attempts to claim otherwise. This isn't the 1980's anymore...every team has talent. At some point you have to be able to play a little chess with your opponent. The problem is we've been playing checkers for the last 10+.

I'm personally sick and tired of having a consistently badly coached team that loses games it shouldn't. I would hope most real Cane fans would feel the same way. You want to call me a "bad or stupid" fan.....then if that means the definition I'll gladly accept it. I expect more from this program and I've grown weary of the perpetual excuses from the Don Bailey Jr disciples of the world.

If Duke, who is 10-2 and ranked, doesn't have better players and a better team then usual then how are they winning?

Coaching? This is the staff's 6th year. Nothing has changed there. He's lost a ton if games at Duke and has a terrible overall losing record. Did Cutcliff start taking genius pills his year? Or has he been bettering the talent each year. They made strides in each of the last three seasons. He's a very good coach but it takes players. Which is why it's taken him 6 years to break through.

Are you saying they have more talent on their team than we have on our team?

Team? Definitely not. But you know all it take in an Achilles heel that can be exploited. UF played USCe tough as **** and then lost to GA Southern and their option the next week.

Our defense is so devoid of talent and depth it's upsetting. Someone pointed out the "star" ratings for our starting linebackers in a thread. It was 1.6 stars on average. That's worse than the average kid in Kent State or UAB's recruiting classes. And they may be better than our DL, who don't have a single 3-down player who can rush the passer. And our depth is even a bigger problem. The guys behind them all are even less capable and we are only playing with 69 scholarship players right now I believe.

I'm not making excuses or saying anyone is wrong about anything. I'm just saying the level of talent on our defense is scary bad right now. There are some good young guys and what looks like a heck of a recruiting class coming in. Which has me optimistic about the future.

As for Duke? They were terrible for 4 years under this staff. Made strides in the 5th year and put it together in year 6. They have a full roster, senior leadership, some very good players, depth, and experience. That makes you a good football team. Trying to limit ones evaluation of a team as the sum of its parts is silly.

We can sit here all day and talk about how great Malzahn is all day long, but this is still his first season. I'm sure after Chizik won the title after year two Auburn fans were willing to build him a statue. Look at Florida, Sugar Bowl than a loss to Georgia Southern in Muschamp's third year. And truthfully this isn't Malzahn's first season at Auburn, he was the offensive coordinator there as this offense was being built. He wasn't some guy who no one knew around the school. It would be different if he never coached at Auburn and had to build a team around his needs. But this team, especially on offense, was built for his offense. The reason their offense was so bad last season, was because a certain coach was not coaching there. So we can consider this year 4 for Malzahn at Auburn, even three seasons removed from a National Title. We can compare Golden and Malzahn all day, but it could be worse, say Florida worse. Golden has won 11 of his last 14 games and our "worse" loss was to the Coastal Champion, not excusing the loss but that's who we lost to. So instead of comparing Golden to the most extreme case on the positive end, why not compare to the extreme case on the negative end. But that would make Golden look like he knows what he's doing. And we don't want to do that, right?

Same people defending Golden now that were defending Randy in his 3rd and 4th year. These people don't understand reason and logic. No point in arguing with Golden defenders at this point.
