Group of Former Players Want To be Involved

Aside from this idea being pointless and serving no real end but pacifying simple minds like Grandpa Luke it also seems like a recipe for disaster in relation to hurt feelings and perceived slights. So what happens within this little committee if someone tells the truth about Mario being a pathetic hire? What if someone laughs at Curtis Johnson's name? What happens if one faction has their guy hired and the other's isn't even considered? These guys are all biased by personal relationships without being able to counter those with coaching acumen. I might let them be part of the interview process but I'm definitely not seeking a final recommendation from any of them.

if anything, I think it just heightens awareness of just how important this next hire is going to be for this program's resurgence. Hopefully, the admin. takes notice and give this search and selection process its due diligence to find the right guy. I don't mind the added pressure being put on them. It really can't hurt.

Great post Tad, except for the inaccurate and redundant jab at Luke. Dudes want the players to pay money to have their voices heard. What turncoats some Canes fans are. Their first instinct is routinely anti-player who have won us 5 rings under 4 coaches. As if they haven't already paid their dues and made the university millions already by the play on the field. You'd trust Blake James and BOT over them. I agree that they aren't the smartest people in the world, but in this situation, a person doesn't have to be. Who understands and knows football better? Should BOT members have to pay to have their voices heard as well? Your opinions work against you in the long run. Stop saintifying people who have proven they don't know football or how to choose a coach already.
