Group of Former Players Want To be Involved

The ideal situation is that all of those opinions are collected by an intelligent and discerning Athletic Director, and then used as a mere factor in a much more complex analysis.

sadly we drew the short straw on athletic directors... again.

I'll save you the energy - they're going to recommend Pagano, Chud, Mario, Curtis Johnson. They can have their opinions and recommendations but are not equipped to recommend a new coach.

Funny you brought CJ up. On the afternoon sports talk radio here in DC, CP was being interviewed about the Skins and specifically about Alfred Morris. Guys move into what he thinks Miami should do. One of the guys he recommended was CJ but didn't think he'd leave Louisiana. He definitely wants a Miami guy.

CJ for what? He's about to get his *** thrown out on the street by Tulane. CJ look like Al Golden look like Vince Lombardi.

Want to be involved? Cut a check for a real head coach, competent assistants, and necessary facilities.

I appreciate the brotherhood of being a Hurricane, and the bond of players, but I hate this. Football players are mostly not too bright. They have also spent the majority of their lies getting bashed in the head.

Being a good player doesn't mean they're qualified to weigh in on who to hand over a few million dollars to. The BOT and former players should be given some time to say their peace, then Blake should make the decision.

and offer input to UM committee that selects new coach. Ed Reed says he & Ken Dorsey have been talking along with some others and want to have the opportunity to make suggestions etc.

Yup....because last time those two offered their opinion, things worked out great.

This was sarcastic right?

Dorsey is a conflict of interest since there is a real possibility that he ends up as an assistant on the staff of whoever is hired.

I think in a functional athletic department the ultimate decision making power in these situations should fall on the athletic director. Ours just so happens to be an unqualified goofball in his dad's blazer who was the only guy available the day Donna said "just promote the next guy you see," but I still believe the power structure should make this decision his.

I don't think Kelly Jennings and the BOT dude who owns a tomato farm should all be sitting around a table shouting out random coach names like a shltty game of charades.

Do not hire a "Miami guy" - do not let former Miami players have a say unless they are giving MAJOR dollars to the program ----- ie Edge

We really needed a good AD for this hire. I no faith in Blake or the search committee.

The analysis is not complex.

Butch Davis is the answer to 2+2.

Blake should add some players to search, but none who can benefit. I have 3 guys in mind, DJ, Vilma, JP. All would be excellent.

By a show of hands, who here thinks BJ is capable of such rational....or even capable of understanding the above statement for that matter?

Weren't these the same kids that gave us Larry Coker....no thanks

Yes and this is getting old, it was the wrong move

they wanted what would give us a national title and it worked
Do you want another?

in no way am I saying let them pick, but can we give it a rest, they knew what had to be done to win for sure
