Graig Cooper

True, I had forgotten how much talent we had back on those late 2000’s teams. Such a shame we never amounted to much back then with those players primarily due to crappy coaching. Here’s hoping with the talent we’ve painstakingly mounted back up again that we don’t waste it again this time.

Facts. Coop was the truth, until that knee injury
Coop was the truth. Beyond that knee injury the sad **** is because we decided to take coop who started at his juco we gave up on his backup who happened to have already been committed to us... anyone remember who his backup was at juco, who was committed to us the year before. I'll give yall a reminder that was lesean McCoy that onion said we don't want anymore since we got supa coop. Could of had them both if we wanted them

Mike James, Lamar Miller, Damien Berry, Storm Johnson, and Cooper was the RB core in 2010. How in the **** did that team not do damage? Don’t answer that question lol. Benjamin, Aldarius Johnson, Hankerson, and Laron Byrd at WR to go along with an o line who all has been in the NFL (Henderson and Linder are still in the league).
That’s the year Jacory got hit and sent to another dimension against UVA. Otherwise I think that’s a acc championship game representative with a chance to beat the other side. But the FSU game that year we were inexcusably out coached and played.

**** in knew McCoy was committed to us at one point but didn’t know we essentially dropped him

That era of Miami running backs was pretty **** solid at the college level imo. Even Damien berry was good when he played for us imo and then you had Lamar and cooper

Big fan of Coop. Without the injury he definitely makes the league and sticks around for a while. Above average back especially for his size how physical he was and played with a lot of passion.

I loved Coop. He could have really had a nice career if not for that injury, never looked the same when he returned. Used to love when the crowd would go "Coooooooooooooop". Hope he's doing well.

I don't think we dropped McCoy. McCoy's original commitment to us was a surprise (everyone knew he wasn't going to qualify), but it was pretty obvious he was never coming to Miami. I don't think McCoy ever even visited Miami.

I would get killed when I used to compare Yearby to Cooper.

But both were small, quick RB's that didn't have great speed. Both were good college RB's, not NFL guys.

They just catch some hate because their expectations were higher as recruits than they should've been.

He signed with us the year before but ended up being short credits apparently. So we sent him to new Berlin if I remember right. Coop was already there so he was the starter. Over the course of the year onion changed his mind over lesean and told him we were good.

I've known lesean since high school. It was a surprise when he initially committed because it was last second & we had 3 other backs in that class. several highly ranked ones as well. But he was ranked right up there with the elite ones. We knew it would be tough because of his credits. That's why we sent him to new Berlin. The rest of the story I remember well. Not only because I'd talk to lesean very often at the time. But because some of that staff I was very close with as well. We dropped him.

**** - you'd know better than me then.

Why did we drop him? I know he was the highest ranked RB that we signed that year by far.

My memory was we "dropped" him because he was never actually that serious bout us, and he was always linked to Penn St. & Pitt and we couldn't get him to visit.

I recall that McCoy’s UM commitment was never really taken very seriously by anyone. And the fan base went on to console itself by talking about how Coop put him on the bench during their prep season together.

D, I was just about to say, u mean Shady?? Yeah, total fck job we did, fa real.

Cooper was certainly an exciting player and great athlete. I'd compare him to Mark Walton. Good balance, acceleration and shiftiness but not the best vision or instincts. There was a lot of Graig Cooper running up the back of his offensive line with a hole open just to his left or right that he didn't see. He was an NFL quality back though before the injury. He could return kicks and hurt you catching passes too.
