Graham Harell to USC

Desperation is a stinky cologne.

All these former Texas Tech QBs are on the raise in the coaching world. They all turn out to be a crapshoot.

North Texas was 12th in passing offense & 20th overall in total Offense, and this is with low level CUSA program that doesn't have the access to talent or resources that most P5 schools have.

Graham doesn't exclusively run the Air Raid, in fact none of the Leach disciples do, the only coach who still strictly runs the Air Raid is Leach. Most of his students have taken elements of the Air Raid passing attack & mixed with more conventional offenses to become a more effective balanced team. That's what made the Briles clan so impactful as offensive minds, because Art doesn't just run the AR, he mixed it with Spread offenses he was already running when he was coaching High school in Texas in the 90's.

Graham is a young upcoming OC that's done a good job under Seth Litrell, he'll have access to elite 4/5-star West coast talent at a program like USC that still recruits at a high level. This hire was about them further developing JT Daniels & running a system that's more applicable to the kind of players they're recruiting.

It will be interesting to watch Harrell with USC talent versus Enos with Miami talent.

Thanks.

Exactly why asked what I asked.

It seemed to me to be knee-jerk to think that because he played in a Leach offense, he would exclusively run a Leach offense. Obviously, he doesn’t.

Harrell and Fisch were the rumored names on USC boards. In the past few days it seemed Harrell was the frontrunner. Supposedly he turned down Helton earlier but then USC raised the offer significantly after Kingsbury departed, and USC became more desperate. However, North Texas has an extremely wealthy booster who was supposedly willing to up the ante to keep Harrell and other top football coaches. That was the sticking point when I last sampled USC forums last night.

One of the major USC forums is actually still in a state of shock after the sudden death of the site founder and very popular USC figure last week. The football stuff has been relegated to quiet second tier in comparison.

The 34-38 rushes per game is what many of the Leach disciples have wisely adapted, while Leach himself is stuck in the stubborn and limiting 19-28 range, depending on the season. The only guarantee is he will be last nationally in rushes per game.

The lesser talent aspect of Air Raid always comes up. But the hilarious aspect is how far the Happy Adjusters will take it upon translation to a top tier program. They assign nothing but prancing touchdowns while ignoring all the weaknesses and cupcake frailty toward team identity as a whole.

Adjusters butcher the big picture to remarkable dependability.

Harrell, like Kliff Kingsbury, is a former Leach protege and an Air Raid disciple. Considering USC was all aboard the Kingsbury train before the Cardinals hired him, this move makes a ton of sense. Like Kingsbury and Sonny Cumbie (another Leach QB turned Air Raid guru) Harell has altered the scheme to incorporate more of a running game both from the RB and QB.

AS usual, LCE is right in that only Leach runs the true air raid offense anymore as he's more interested in stubbornly throwing the ball 60 times a game than actually winning games. Harrell will do well with USC's talent. He was on a short list of guys I wanted for the Miami OC position.

Usc could turn out to be another OU great offense bad defense.Lincoln Riley runs basically same offense as Harrell does.everyone can see that good-great talent that offense can be slowed down but hasn't been stopped.bamas defense couldn't stop it and bama has a top ten defense.

interesting that fedora and apple white remain unemployed
I was just thinking that the other day. Considering we were all going crazy for them, neither one has a job yet.
