Good point I heard on why he won’t hire an OC

The problem with hiring an offensive coordinator is that the position coaches need to have the vision of the coach. Richt wants to run a traditional pro style offense and not a spread that would make this offense much more explosive. Richt will bring in someone that will run the offense he wants. It's no different than when people would say that Golden needed to fire Onofrio. Onofrio was running Golden's defense. Golden would have hired someone to run the same 3-4 defense. It was the style on defense then and I would like to think its poor unimaginative play calling on offense, but I think the pro style offense has seen its best days in college.

This is really the root of the problem. I get the feeling Blake is just a cuck, in way over his head as AD, who lacks the balls to make the decision to fire Jon, let alone Mark. It has fostered this misguided reality whereby Mark Richt has more power than any coach should and Mark's interests are simply not aligned with the team's or the fan's. He is selfishly looking out for his family, thanks to Blake who has enabled him with this authority and an extension.
It’s really not the root of the problem. The problem is Richt. He’s a straight up pu$$y. He suspends every kid for doing petty bull****. Winning isn’t at the top of his list. Also he’s just a terrible coach altogether.

He actually wouldn't even have to fire Lil Jon depending on the hire.

Matt Canada was OC and QB coach at LSU. You just make Lil Jon co-QB coach or "passing game specialist" or some **** and then you deal with Searles if that's a demand the new guy makes.

Was about to say this narrative he would have to fire his son is false. He can be reassigned as some specialist and not count against the number of coaches, right? Doesn't Alabama get away with it?

I understand your point but disagree with the thought of keeping Jon on staff in any capacity. Only our admin would consider keeping a guy on staff to keep the head coach happy even though he has proven that he can’t coach at this level. There is zero evidence that Jon has had any positive impact on this university. People like that deserve to be fired regardless of who their daddy is.

Absolutely but he probably (absurdly) wants the kid to retain the title. I'm just saying a lot of OCs are defacto QB coaches too so we really only need the one current opening to add an OC.

Lil Jon is essentially a co-QB coach with Rick right now anyway so it's not like he should be super possessive of the entirety of the position anyway.

Ohhhh, I agree. I'm just thinking what are possible realistic scenarios in relation to how Miami will freakin' handle it.

It's not just about his son.................Richt is an ego-maniac. He will go down and take everything with him to prove that he was right and Georgia was wrong. He made it clear from the start that he went away from his "passion" for calling plays and being involved in the details of the offense and that's what would make the difference for him now. Hiring an OC would all but confirm that the game has passed him by. He doesn't want to, being forced to would challenge his authority and control which in turn challenges his competence as a head coach.....................Then you add in Blake James who is the one forcing the change and can no longer justify the initial hiring and follow up extension, which now calls his competence into question.

Bottom line, the statement from Blake James yesterday wasn't political speech it was a flat out ******* lie. If you love the University of Miami football program then Mark Richt and Blake James are the equivalent of Satan to you................they are straight up self absorbed and evil. If either one had any decency or moral code about them they'd resign immediately but they will cover their asses until someone else makes the choice for them. For as dark as things are now, it will take a group effort from the consumer (fanbase) to speak loud enough by keeping our money and time to force change quicker.................................and in doing so keep things from getting even darker. The AD is destroying this program, it's a sad time right now.

Calling James or Richt a ***** is giving them an easy out. You don't get in these positions by being a *****, don't make is easy. These two "men" are crooks and completely evil, they will fall on their own pride even at the complete demise of this program. Honestly, if it were just the fact that they were weak, then the correction would be simple................................yet nothing is happening.

I know. I just feel like that enables or cowers to Richt in a way. You have to hold him accountable for hiring his son in the first place and set the tone for future hires. Either taking hiring seriously and find the best candidates or we will get rid of them and you.

I get the whole issue about firing your own son so I would not expect him to do that but the reassignment is very feasible and help save some face. Either that or find his son another position somewhere in the college ranks. I am sure in his 30 years of coaching Richt has made a connection or two. But main point he would not have let his son go to make necessary changes on offense.

Yup. It's almost like a miniature version of what FSU had with Jeff Bowden. You're right though about one option that I've heard other people in the media mention too- Rick should have enough of a network of connections that someone at a lesser program could give Lil Jon a landing spot. ****, we could even give the kid a miniature version of the buyout that FSU had to give Jeffy Bowden to disappear (before Terry finally gave him another job).

Richt is like the kid who does drugs, skips school, and is clearly on the wrong path. Blake James is like the parent who enables his kid to continue to do so.

Both are at fault, but without the parent taking action, it's just going to continue.

He would be forced to fire the guy who shouldn't be coaching. Sounds like a self-inflicted issue.

Don’t think Blake can “just fire Jon”. Thought hiring his son was part of Richt’s contract when he took the job but maybe D$ can shed some light on this.

Then there's an even bigger problem here insofar as Richt has far more power than he should have. Did we not learn anything from Bobby Bowden and Jeff Bowden?

I'm not surprised. Isn't Blake James the same ******* who let the school enter into a shoddy, one-sided contract with Arkansas State that fvcked Miami out of $400k? There's a lack of institutional control and that starts with Blake James.
