Good news on Valentine....

So now since Golden talked to Valentine it's lets complain about not talking to the coach. Oh okay.

Dead period until now right?

All you guys yelling that Al needs to pick up the phone gotta figure he knows what to do here.

So now since Golden talked to Valentine it's lets complain about not talking to the coach. Oh okay.

Coach Tunsil is acting as TV's spokesman right now. Doesn't that give you a slight clue that he's a very important figure in his recruitment? Don't you think it would be a good idea to make an effort to talk to such an important figure in our most important recruit's recruitment?

Frenchfries, he talked to Valentine though I think that's bigger than talking to hid coach.

Yeah you're right, AllbouttheGoo. It's not worth taking a few minutes to reach out to Coach Tunsil after you caused your most important recruit to de-commit by chasing another job. I'm gonna trust the process. Full speed ahead.

You new to South Florida recruiting? Valentine is gonna lean to what his coach says. He better convince Tunsil. I think if Penn State circles back he is gone anyway. Probably doesn't want to look like a liar.

You might not like the guy, call him fat, insult him, question his judgement with regards to his best friend and say he isn't a good game day coach but you have to give him credit as a recruiter.

By the way, worth noting the recruit everyone wants seems to trust him.

Kid needs to realize that there's no guarantee Les Miles stays at LSU either. He could leave for the NFL, or he is one 7 win season away from getting fired.

Pick a school, not a coach.

Yes, that's true. But he might also visit Alabama and there he knows that the coach is a man of his word, keeps his commitments, always tells the truth about his plans, and is not a job hopper, he is likely to stay in once place for 40 years.

I don't have to give him credit as a recruiter and act like he's beyond reproach in that area. We're discussing a specific recruit and specific dereliction of duties with regard to reaching out to Coach Tunsil.

Man this kids coach is the one shopping him to LSU or Kentucky; an now he wants to meet with Golden for what! AG has been talking directly to TV an his family an explained himself to them. Now this Genron guy wants to interject himself to get insider information which he will no doubt share with the highest bidder that wants to spin it in a way to sway Valentine into thinking UM is unstable. He is using his go between Jon Drummond (aka Genron) the assistant coach at Champagnot.

This guy Jon Drummond has done interviews with espn and Outside lines on how he sees nothing wrong with shopping kids. An now he has the mother load dropped in his lap which is T. Valentine an ya'll think he is not shopping the **** out of this kid as his biggest payday yet! AG is not stupid enough to give these guys any more ammunition for LSU or UK. UK is the flippen dumpster of the SEC for god sake an now Valentine is considering visiting them yet he says he wants to win championships, well that will never happen at UK unless Bama, AU, UGA, USCe, LSU, TAM, and Mizzo stop playing ball.

Here is the ESPN article on Drummond shopping kids

I am hoping TV separates himself from this guy and just finishes out his classes and moves on to the U in Aug.

Go Canes

Genron isn't the head coach.

What is or who is Genron?

It sounds like something that is electronic. Is it a real person?

Were in the quiet period, not the dead period. During the dead period, the recruit can call the staff, but the staff can not call the player. Ways around it both

Decleated put it in the tacked thread in the recruiting section:

Definitions(simplified) — for the official NCAA definitions click the following link

Contact Period — It's permissible for authorized athletic department staff members to make in-person and off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.
College coaches are allowed to visit recruits off–campus (at their high school or home). Coaches can make only one visit per week to individual recruits
and are permitted to make one phone call per week to a recruit during this period.

Quiet Period — Recruits can visit with college coaches but only at those college campuses. Also, during the month of September, October or November
coaches are permitted to make one in-person off-campus visit to a recruit (at their high schools or at an athletic event) (colleges are allowed a total of
42 days of evaluation time during this period).

Dead Period — Coaches are not permitted to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off-campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by
recruits or to make phone calls to recruits.

Evaluation Period — It's permissible for authorized athletics department staff to be involved in off-campus activities to assess academic qualifications and
playing abilities. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts with a prospect are permitted during these evaluations: the college coaches are only allowed
to attend athletic events and/or the prospect's school and talk to the high school coaches and school administrators but they are not allowed to speak to
the recruit during one of these visits except to say "hello." Colleges are allowed a total of approximately 168 days each year to conduct evaluations for all of
their prospective recruits.

Street agent. Regularly taking kids to SEC schools in return for money

Fair point. I don't know if he called Tunsil and, based on the facts presented here, it appears he hasn't. (We never know what really happens here do we?)

No one is beyond reproach. No one. However there is a middle ground here. Golden is a proven recruiter.

You're trying to talk middle ground with Franchise? He is in full "Al Goldumb is dog ****e and will never be good and can do no good" mode. That won't change unless winning starts again and we get full "the Don never fails so sit back and learn" mode. No middle ground here.

Glad it seems Tunsil took the reigns from that street agent *** ***** Genron.
