I forgot he was on Sanford and Son. I remember him more for 227 and other roles.

I hear you and no idea. Also I'm old and forget all sorts of things! Haven't watched a Sanford and Son episode in probably 10 years. How could you forget Smitty?
there are handful of these shows from the 1970s that were elite but could not be aired today. all in the family, the jeffersons etc.
and just about every episode of all in the family, including this beauty
I’m originally from Queens and so were my parents. My Dad was a NY cop and my Mom a Nurse. Both born and raised in the west side of Queens where it butts up against the East River. My brothers and I often referred the them as” Edith and Archie”…. Affectionately of course.
Queens at one time was considered “ the country “ to the people in the City. The wealthy had summer homes there around the turn of the 19th century. But, post WW2 the working class/Blue collars moved there to get out of the City, eventually it became a working class/middle class borough. Great place for a kid to grow up in the 50’s and 60’s, a lot of life lessons learned there.I have family who lived and grew up in Flushing. Good, salt of the earth, and hardworking people live in the area.

This one really hurts. Jackie the Bald Eagle, followed by many on a nest cam, has died after a mysterious illness and a fight with another eagle.
