Golden Wins Out and I will eat Crow

I have to agree with some of the posters in this thread. The nerve of Al for having an interest in the head coaching job at his alma mater. Just criminal.

I'm not disappointed that he wanted it. I'm disappointed that he didn't get it. And "disappointed" is an understatement.

don't be too worried, there is a three score favorite between you (and me) and that plate next weekend. more people would see it if they didn't erroneously think they had glass stomachs.

That isn't what ****ed people off, Captain Save-A-Hoe.

He can inquire about his alma mater's head coaching position or any other coaching position for that matter all he wants. He's an adult. But he went about it the sleaziest most unprofessional way possible. He left the school high and dry in December and left the admin scrambling and looking like fools while not communicating with them at all. He looked Bobby Petrino-esque with how he was trying to backdoor his way out of town.

As a fan of the University of Miami first and Al Golden second, you should be angry about this too. So, in effect, it was pathetic the way he handled that situation, Al Jr..

If Golden wins out, I'll eat an actual crow. I'd be ******* surprised that he adjusted *that* much. And, that's knowing things have legitimately changed internally within the last month.

If we beat Florida State, it's more than just "adjustments." Golden will literally be thought of in the same vein as the top coaches in college ball if we can make that happen 12 months after the NCAA ended their stranglehold on our program.

I just don't think we're on that level talent-wise; we have a makeshift offensive line, a freshman quarterback, a defensive line with mostly first year talent, etc.

Already making excuses? That was fast. No team is at 100%. I expect a win.

Making excuses? The fact is if we beat Florida State, arguably the most talented team in the country, it would be a monumental step forward for our program. You can expect whatever you want from behind your keyboard.

Come on. Gus Malayan took a 3 win team in shambles to the ship in one summer with all the probs you're listing for golden. There is enough top tier talent to win. Golden needs to win or Gtfoh. NO EXCUSES

Gladly, but if he loses any game this season/bowl season, I have a pocket full of rocks for him to kick.

It's all or nothing and even then I'll be dubious but I'll eat crow..and gladly.

ooh, that's gross...and I thought Sandusky was bad.

So that's the standard? Because if I remember correctly, Auburn was a once in a lifetime Cinderella team that needed a Hail Mary and a field goal return to win their division.

P.S. I don't recall them having an offensive line in shambles and a defensive line with little upperclassmen talent, but fine.

P.P.S. I said, if we pulled that off, Golden would be considered in the same vein as top tier coaches, which I believe Malzahn to be.

Yeah, that's the standard. Win the sec west. Your hero golden can't win the acc coastal.

Or should we lower the bar? (Cue a whole bunch of excuses)

Miami did win the ACC Coastal in 2012 under Golden. We sacrificed attending the ACC Championship to appease the NCAA. Nice try, though.

And I'd still rather have this 2014 team than the 2012 team, whether or not Duke wins out and takes the coastal, because I'm not short-sighted as ****.

Way too many people who can't look back a year or two and track our progress/look forward a year or two and have vision.

It was a split and they were actually barred from participating in the ACC Championship. We gave up our RIGHT to participate. NEXT.

Nice try yourself, North Carolina "won" the coastal that year, so even if you want to get hypothetical taking away NCAA, Golden still hasn't done ****.

Also, you're kidding yourself, top tier coaches don't win as the underdog one time over the course of 4 years. Top tier coaches don't lose to Gtech.

Did I say Golden was a top tier coach or did I say if we beat Florida State, Golden will be mentioned in the vein of top tier coaches?

North Carolina was barred from the start of the season, Miami were the Coastal Champs and they gave up their right to play in the game for the NCAA. Even in your terrible argument, you can't find it within yourself to say North Carolina won the Coastal without adding quotations. If we played in that game nobody would be questioning whether or not we won the Coastal.

It was a split and they were actually barred from participating in the ACC Championship. We gave up our RIGHT to participate. NEXT.

Does it matter? History books will show it as both teams with an asterisk next to their records, and NC won the head to head.

Even hypothetically Golden hasn't done a **** thing

Your argument is built on ignoring facts and parsing the definition of non-action verbs. I mean, I understand this is an anonymous message board, but at some point you have to look inwards when the actual facts become overwhelming, right?

What is golden if he beats FSU? 20-19 against ACC opponents?

Golden with a win against FSU still deserves to be nowhere near the vicinity the words top tier coaches.
