Another great recruiting tool for Al and staff. This is priceless and for you Golden haters, Al ain't going no where. If you don't like Golden better find another team.

Golden has two years.

Oh, great to know the mighty and influential nystateofmind is "giving" Golden two years. So if he doesn't meet your standards, what then? You're going to stop being a fan? You're going to annoy everyone even more with your silly and constant criticisms?

In other words, a collective of people who know a **** of a lot more about football and coaching than do the "experts" on this board that constantly trash Golden.

I think ppl like Golden but look at him as a clown for not firing Jethro or D'noforio yet until he does why kiss his ****, I think Golden could be an Elite coach if he ever puts good assistants together otherwise he'll continue to struggle in recruiting and on the field

lol - Yeah, it looks like he's really struggling with recruiting. The fact that you look at Golden as a clown says a whole lot about you.

Strange how the rest of the country thinks Al is gonna get us to the top but we sit here and call for his head.

The rest of the country doesn't analyze this program with a microscope as we do.

No, the rest of the country, including other coaches and real experts, don't set ridiculously unrealistic expectations.

Gotta agree. Expecting to beat Duke was completely unrealistic

Time for a new banner to fly over the game in Orlando, oh wait Golden is a clown. No matter what, we should as Canes be proud of our coach for this honor, JMO.

Al deserves this and other awards. He is doing a great job under horrible circumstances. Still, Vince would have fired his own mother if her defense gave up 500 yards one, no less 3 or 4 times in a row. Al, needs to pass one more test before he has a chance at greatness. He must understand Vince's saying: "Winning isn't everything; It is the ONLY thing!" Al is super CEO but needs to get grip on his own limitations and those of his friends. He has good eye for coaches. If he honestly went out and pick a new DC or Dline coach he would find a excellent one who would get snatched up in a couple years by someone else as HC or NFL type. Anyone who has had done well knows that sometime those best friend from HS or college just do not cut your new digs. Everyone has their own ceiling. Al's is really high; Mark has already passed his. He is an anchor around Al's neck. If he cuts him loose, Al will win a NC here and be in line for NFL HC within 3 years. Knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep are crucial leardership skills. Friendship is not.

Really the "experts" are other coaches that don't watch cane football or follow our recruiting and team development because they have their own teams to run know more than the fanatics on this board? Dude you are one of the most clueless posters on this board.

Speaking for myself, it has nothing to do with expectations. Nothing. I've seen/listened to every interview AG and his staff has ever made since he was hired. I've listened to the interviews of players. I listen very closely. I've watched every single MIAMI football game AG has coached AT LEAST twice, as many as four times. I've paused them, gone back and looked at great plays and negative plays to see what went right or what went wrong.

I think I can speak for many CANES fans around here and say coaches and these so-called experts who don't know Allen Hurns from Artie Burns, who don't put in the time and follow the CANES, really don't know the intricacies of this team like we do.

You give fans way to much credit and think way to much of yourself. Most of you rant and rave and spew nonsense because you are helpless and powerless to change anything. The fact is Al is going to be here and his defensive staff and there is not one thing you can do. Well there is one thing, find another team.

It's probably an award for corches with some Italian blood in them. If Kuntsniff or Malzahn were greaseballs, then either would have won.

EDIT: Just found out it's the Steve Lombardi Award. Steve's the former WWF jobber. This award is for corches who did a bunch of stretcher jobs this year.

Yep. They all want Al to stay at UM. That will assure us of never being contenders again.

I mean really, this must be one of those "honorary" awards and not based in reality. Golden has not shown one single friggin example that he knows how to fix his defense. In fact, he stands there as useless as the DC. No idea from week to week how to cover a simple crossing route and yet he gets a coaching award.

Its like when the give the kid who finished last in the race a participation trophy.
