Golden makes excuses in recent interview

Just once I'd like to hear Golden say, "We're ready to accept the challenge. We have everything we need to win the ACC."

He's a *****. No surprise this team plays scared. They have no confidence.

Golden could be a successful Division 3 coach.

The place was in shambles 4 years ago when he took over.

The only thing that can get built overnight is a house of cards.

Let's just see what he can do with the 6 years left on his contract.

Riiiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhttttttttt. Let's give this staff 6 more years. Great idea! maybe he can run it completely into the ground and we can start the rebuild from a crater this time. Jezuz H.
He was being sarcastic.

No I wasn't. The last thing we need is to start over again. What the U needs is stability. The man has built a strong foundation.

I'm not saying we give him another extension, but at least let him coach through his current extension.

I'm without speech.

Never listen to what coaches say in interviews. Every coach does this. Downplay their team no matter how good or bad they are. Especially Golden. He said SteMo was healthy last year and he could barely make a 3 step drop. Golden will say " We are building" every year he is coaching football. That's just who he is.

I could've sworn Golden was proud of the work our team put in during the offseason and was rambling off numbers about how much weight players gained and how much stronger we were as a team.

What changed?

Golden is seeing the writing on the wall and he is trying to control people's expectations.

I don't read those as excuses. I see a man the was dealt a crappy hand just telling it like it is. The truth hurts sometimes, Roky.

Yeah, we were lean and fast.

He hasn't gotten us huge and completely slow yet ala' PSU football. But he's working on it.

They day a coach is satisfied is the day I don't want that coach. Saban is never satisfied, no matter what.

A guy with balls doesn't keep saying this every year. He's managed to lower everyone's expectations. Even his own players! He should be put in prison.

So you actually wanted him to come out and say he's 100% satisfied with where the team is in all areas? If he'd said he was, one of you would have driven over to his house and killed his family.

Saban said the same thing after winning 2 straight titles. There's plenty of stuff to ***** about. This isn't one of them.

It's the same thing over and over...if you can't get it done after 4 years then I don't know what to tell you.

I've seen this same strategy in the business world with consultants trying to sell themselves to me.

You hire them for a short period of time, things aren't working, and they assure you that it's a "process", and "it takes time to put all the pieces together"...blah blah blah.

It's the same thing. And you know what? Even though you've seen it before, you still want to believe them. Part of you says "well maybe it does just take some time....I would hate to stop now and waste all this progress"...

In reality though, it's all BS. It's trying to sell yourself and say all the right things just to get yourself some more time. I think Canes fans have had enough of it now though. I know I've been sick of it since before last season.

This post just depressed the **** out of me. The thought of this is unbearable. I can't watch 6 more years of this garbage product and wasted talent.

No wonder our team doesn't play like they can beat anybody they line up against. The guy "leading" them doesn't believe they're good enough to beat a team full of Miami and SEC rejects.

Like I just said off the board, it's gotten to the point that I imagine, if Golden had been the Coach of the 2001 team, he would have been inclined to talk about our lack of depth at WR.

This has simply gone too far. I rather listen to the other side of the spectrum, like the Coach of my favorite NBA team, mindlessly repeat "look, we have enough." Guy has a team full of scrubs and he just says "we have enough." Two years in a row he's rolled out with a bunch of garbage men-type players and they just reflect that mentality.

All of this, the players are on the roster, they're not being coached up.
