Golden makes excuses in recent interview

Like I just said off the board, it's gotten to the point that I imagine, if Golden had been the Coach of the 2001 team, he would have been inclined to talk about our lack of depth at WR.

This has simply gone too far. I rather listen to the other side of the spectrum, like the Coach of my favorite NBA team, mindlessly repeat "look, we have enough." Guy has a team full of scrubs and he just says "we have enough." Two years in a row he's rolled out with a bunch of garbage men-type players and they just reflect that mentality.

Great point. I usually stick to same sport comparisons when talking about this sort of thing, but your example is spot on.

There's no better example IMO of a team reflecting their coach's mentality than the Bulls.

When I look at the way Golden approaches things compared to Thibs it's night and day.

The place was in shambles 4 years ago when he took over.

The only thing that can get built overnight is a house of cards.

Let's just see what he can do with the 6 years left on his contract.

Riiiiiiiiiigggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhttttttttt. Let's give this staff 6 more years. Great idea! maybe he can run it completely into the ground and we can start the rebuild from a crater this time. Jezuz H.
He was being sarcastic.

No I wasn't. The last thing we need is to start over again. What the U needs is stability. The man has built a strong foundation.

I'm not saying we give him another extension, but at least let him coach through his current extension.

Unless our admin is as daft as our play calling the last few games, they learned their lesson in the Shannon debacle and negotiated a reasonable escape clause in the current extension. The ONLY way Golden sees the end of this current extension will be if he hires seasoned coordinators that frees him up for delegating, coach speak and maybe special teams. No way he remains that long with the current coaching product....the only other way would be for him to adapt, learn, and turn this ship 180 degrees around...and I have seen nothing from the guy that suggests an open mind and an ability to adapt.

If he is worried about size and strength well how about he recruit bigger/stronger recruits to fit his system. Like many on here have stated repeatedly, take advantage and use a scheme that fits south florida. Why recruit 4-3 all american DEs for a 3-4 defense.

So you actually wanted him to come out and say he's 100% satisfied with where the team is in all areas? If he'd said he was, one of you would have driven over to his house and killed his family.

I'm a Bulls fan myself. If this place was a Bulls forum, however, you can be certain there'd be a segment of posters from this site wanting to know when Thibs is going to deliver a title. When is he going to win an Eastern Conference title? If he really has enough, why doesn't he have a ring? You're a reasonable guy and you know I'm speaking truth. If Golden had come out after the Louisville game and said he was 100% satisfied with the team, he'd be butchered here worse than he is now. I don't ever want to hear my coach saying we've peaked and don't need to get better.

Naw.

I want Folden here forever.. so all of our white racist posters can say it's still Shannon's fault..

What worries me is the quote is about the D ---- the problem with this team is the O ---- forget depth you dont have 5 good off lineman

Being 100% satisfied with the team and claiming you "have enough to win" are two entirely different things.

Beside that, there is no comparison. Thibs consistently does more with less. He brings guys like DJ Augustine and Nate Robinson out from relative obscurity and into multi-year deals. He has his faults, no doubt, but he is a coach by the very definition.

Losers always talk about 'their best'. Winners go home and **** the prom queen.

A reporter told Golden that “the Arkansas State coach said you’re the biggest team that they’re going to face all year. I know that’s something you’ve strived to get to, to be the physical, dominating presence. Are you there yet?”

Replied the coach, “No, we’re not. You guys know.”

Golden noted with a laugh that media members “throw lines in the water all the time.’’

“We’ve just got to keep building,’’ he said. “Do I like our depth in certain positions? “Yeah, our safeties are rotating in freely right now; defensive line, we’re rotating more guys than we have been. But we’re not where we want to be yet in terms of size and strength at every position.’’

So just curious, where is he making excuses here?
