Golden going at blake

Why would UM have to pay Golden anything? He never accomplished anything & ran the program into the ground. He and his bucket shop lawyer should find another sucker.

Remarkable that we have people in this thread defending the administration and bashing Al Golden.

He didn't run the program into the ground. It was already there.

It is a lot but cliff notes:

3. In Dec, 2013 after the 9-3 season Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez contacted Blake to talk to Golden about the HC job. Blake told Golden Alvarez called, asked if Golden was interested and Golden said "How can I not be" and rambled about being George Bailey in its a wonderful life and wanted more severance pay to protect his family. Wisconsin offered Golden a 5-year 16 million dollar contract, and Golden told Blake that he would have 85 scholarships, no NCAA investigation, home stadium on campus. Later that same day James walked into Golden with a 1-page revised severance deal. Golden thought this was fair and he knew he was going into his most tumultuous seasons at UM.

Many thanks for the cliff notes. Notice that the coaches are well aware of the deficit by not having a stadium on campus. They can't say as much during their tenure but it is like an anchor regulating the program.

Golden was a wimp regarding Nebraska and Kansas State. That is the same thing Mike Leach demanded at Texas Tech. He saw the non-conference schedule arranged under predecessor Spike Dykes and wanted no part of it. Leach insisted on softening the schedule and Texas Tech complied. Likewise at Washington State, although one reason he took the Washington State job was that they were already scheduling cupcakes in September.

Otherwise I can't believe how bad Blake James looks, and also the University of Miami. You are going to risk perception within the coaching ranks for $4 million? That is big picture idiocy, especially when it attaches to Al Golden who is considered a good stand up guy throughout the profession. If Golden is complaining it will be considered legitimate. The 24 cents stuff is so insulting it could become a reference point within the coaching community whenever this job comes open if Blake James is still in charge.

I wonder what made Miami choose $0.24, rather than a more round number like $0.25.

Maybe Miami just wanted to make it loud and clear that Golden isn’t even worth a quarter.

If Al Golden suddenly became the powder keg that led to Blake James’ firing....

I mean that’s Hollywood ****

not to defend blake bc he sucks, but he wasnt the AD when golden was hired. that was hocutt who split town the moment he knew the shapiro stuff was dropping. what we need is a new BOT
Yeah but he's alleging basically everything bst James for the extension

I 'd say Golden along with his but buddy almost destroying a once proud program and sending it into a downward spiral is certainly CAUSE

In this day and age most contracts are "at will" contracts. Non-performance of your duties is cause.

Either way it will be decided in a court of law.

Because technically Miami is paying out his contract.......only they are doing it SLOWLY at $0,24:laughing-1:

At that rate Golden and heirs should receive the entire payout in a couple of centuries :nelson-haha:

Uh? If you have a contract then it is not at will by definition.

If the $0.24 thing is true, that's incredibly npetty and stupid. It's so dumb too, every other coach now knows this. Makes the job even less appealing.

It's called "legal consideration". Eichorst hired Golden at UM so he's the one who structured the contract.

I hope this leads to Blake being fired.

but wow, Golden said they could have turned the corner if Nebraska wasn’t on the schedule? Nebraska wasn’t even good and we won one of those games. What a pansy. All he had to do to keep his job was fire D’no but we’d never have been good with a scared HC
