Probably the best part of this story. *** is blaming his being fired on the inhumanity of having to play 9-4 and 6-7 Nebraska teams (who he actually beat the year he got fired)

Blake had the chance to offload Golden after 2013 and didn't do it. Can this guy be any more incompetent. Half the fan base knew Golden was a failure even after the 9-3 record. All the signs were there and the beat down at the hands of UL simply solidified it.

So he had a chance to get rid of a ****** coach and the contract that came with it and he didn't take it.

Please fire blake James. I don't think I've ever seen anyone so incompetent at their job.

We had the chance to get rid of him, Cuck gave him a bigger buyout instead, and the school is now getting sued over it. It’s a joke he still has a job.

Yeah, I remember this and no one in the media seemed to follow up until the following year....it was written off as another wannabe Cane booster poser, at least publicly....the local soFla media were caught with their collective pants down when this blew up in August 2011....if they didn't know how would you expect Golden and his people to know.

So in your mind, Shalala and Hocutt knew all along, even though no one in the press did--and even though Shapiro hadn't named names and laid out specifics, and everyone thought Shapiro was a wannabe.

And Shalala and Hocutt conspired to keep the truth from Golden.

Dare I ask what proof you have of this?

Seems far likelier to me that Shalala and Hocutt didn't know specifics any more than anyone else did. They had the Herald story to go on, and that was it. I doubt that Shalala and Hocutt had interviewed all the players and knew of the bennies that Shapiro was providing.

They leveled with Golden as to what they knew (which wasn't much), and he took his chances.

By the time Alvarez reached out to Golden, we had just squandered a very ugly looking 7-0 record to 9-4, all losses being complete blowouts including against the likes of Duke and a terrible VT team. The one saving grace that season had was the victory against UF, but with hindsight you knew that was an all time terrible UF team.

Golden had done exactly fvck all to that point and him and D'Nofrio looked to be an absolute lost cause on defense with their scheme emphatically proving to be incompatible for the type of talent Miami recruits. And yet, we had both Blake and Shalala on their knees begging him not to walk away at no cost to ourselves.

This program is on another level of disaster. We are never coming back.
