GOAT RB - Vilma tweet

Portis ain't gettin' in, no. Was a way better college RB than a pro. Not knocking him, he had a good NFL career.

Edge should've been in by now.

CP won’t get in, u’re right, but CP should’ve been to 4 straight pro bowls to begin his career.

He rushed for over 1500 in 3 of his four years and over 1300 in that only yr he didn’t rush for 1500. Got injured in yr 5, and came back to rush for another 2700 yrds in 2 yrs thereafter.

After his 7th season, he got injured the following season, he couldn’t stay healthy thereafter.

Don’t sleep, CP had a great NFL career for the amount of time he played. His avg. 87.8 yrds/gm is 8th all time in NFL history. He got screwed out of several probowls b/c of the teams he played for.

Not really trying to make this a debate about the GOAT RB, though I'm sure it will turn to that. But want to survey the board. Vilma tweeted the GOAT's are Barry then Peyton. I'd tend to agree.

Funny thing for me is, you almost NEVER hear anyone argue Emmitt as the GOAT. I personally wouldn't put him in the top 5.

So the question is, does ANYONE here consider Emmitt the GOAT? If so, why other than "because he's the all time rushing leader."

Jim Brown is the GOAT followed by Barry....dont know who this peyton guy is....Peyton Manning? I know he had happy feet but didnt really gain that many rushing yards

Jim Brown is the GOAT. The best way to compare players from different eras is to compare them to their contemporaries at their position. While Payton and Sanders were statistically better than their peers, Brown statistically blew away his peers. It wasn’t even close..

Walter Payton. Was misspelled as if it was Manning.
Also the father of Jarrett Payton former Canes and NFL RB.

Emmitt was obviously very talented.

With that said, I'd take Bo Jackson well before him.

And Earl Campbell.

It’s Payton and Sanders and they are interchangeable. At least Sanders got to play w Hermon Moore, Brett Permian, and Rodney Peete. His OL was trash though.

Walter was the most complete RB in the game and he was on a team where fans were more interested in the defense hitting the field than the offense. He was the offense, as he was the receiver, the blocker, and running back.

Those are my 1a and b and they are interchangeable, imo.

If Bo stayed healthy, he may have took the crown. Never seen anyone like him w that speed and superhuman power.

Emmitt will never be in my top 5. I would’ve rushed for 1200/yr behind that line.
Agree totally with you on Bo, Bo was something else. Speed, power dual sport phenom. Wish he wont of gotten hurt. "BO KNOWS"

Had a mountain lion run out in front of my vehicle, change direction 180 degrees, and full speed on next step heading back where he came from. Most athletic thing I've ever witnessed. First thing that came to my mind was Barry Sanders. Going with him, and Jim Brown as a close 2nd. As an aside, I'm going with Zonk as my FB. Man was a frickin beast. Great Fin.

How is Terrel Davis in the HOF and not the Edge?

Hes Barry with speed

Not sure what type of speed you refer to but Barry was 4.37 and Saquon is 4.38 in the 40. Barry was very fast, and hit full stride in a step, that is one of the reasons he was so dangerous.

Barry was alway the best in my eyes, glad someone brought up Campbell, he was a beast the never seems to get in the conversation of the greatest backs. It was too bad about Bo Jackson though, he may have settled the argument if it was not for the injury.

I saw barry being chased from behind and being caught if ky memory serves me right. They always knocked his speed when i watched as a youngin. Sayers was LT but in a league where the defenders werent as great as todays.

Maybe it was later in his career that i watched and i was real young. Saquon is a mix of Barry and some other greats.....Saquon is barry and jamal anderson ability to break tackles. Closest thing to Barry i have seen

I'm old, but not that old.
When I was a kid, the best Jim Brown performance I saw was in The Dirty Dozen.
Classic.

Nah his performance in the 1969 Western "100 Rifles" was much better. He even had a *** scene Raquel Welch the movie.
