Girard Pringle Jr (not hurt) forgotten?

Posting stats on CIS is hating, lol. :ibis-roflmao-sm3:
Context, you’re missing it. Did you look at the opponents? Did you look to see if Marty has a lower ypc because he got carries on the goal line or 3rd or 4th and 1? Did you take into account that the run game got better as the year went on, which had more to do with the offensive line and not the running backs.

Look, I won’t pretend like I know who is better; and I know YPC is important, but I know football enough to know that in 2026, fans should know by now to pay attention to more than just YPC.

We don’t make it to the title game without Marty. We probably still make it without Pringle. Does that mean anything for next year? Nope.

Fletcher is one of the 10 best backs in the country, as a floor. If we wanna only give him 10-12 carries a game to keep him fresh, that’s cool.

Marty Brown starts at half the teams in the league, if not more. You wanna give him a rest? Cool.

Pringle’s production as an undersized true freshman is incredibly exciting and primes him for a big 2nd year leap. You wanna give him a rest? No problem.

Jordan Lyle was good enough last August for the staff to think he’s better than all the kids above. You think he sucks? Bet.

Javian Mallory was a composite blue chip recruit with over 50 offers.

This is a truly obscene group of backs. I wouldn’t trade if for a single room in America.

And this will be a pass first team with a bonafide Heisman candidate at QB throwing to a grotesque collection of pass-catchers that goes 8+ deep.

No excuses. Literally zero. Our only problem is there’s only 1 football and we have too many good football players.

Chips needs to get on peptides and deer antler spray. I heard the regenerative clinic across the street from campus that A-rod used to frequent is back up and running.

Heard Pringles got a yearly subscription and he’s up to 220
Play boi hears ALOT. Keep ya head down chicken
Third and 43……… seems like your odds at success at anything. Looks like you need to keep your head down chicken…..

I think the new RB coach will provide a fresh perspective to the room and everyone will have the chance to prove himself. Fletcher is #1, everything else is up for grabs IMO.

Maybe coaches believing Lyle was good enough to start against ND last year was a mistake and he's always been just average. Maybe Lyle's injuries set him back and maybe he recovers, maybe he doesn't.

As far as Pringle in pass pro, if he can't block well, he should sit. Risking Mensah isn't worth whatever "extra" Pringle brings to the table. We're already more than good enough on offense. And there are still some pretty **** good pass rushers in the ACC.
This is a fair take and I have no arguments with anything you said.

My feelings are:

I agree & hope the new RB coach brings a fresh perspective. I just hope past performance is part of that perspective.

Lyle's Performance - If anyone wants to remove last year, fine. What you're left with is: Fletcher outplayed Lyle his FR year. Pringle outplayed Lyle in last years spring game. Mallory outplayed Lyle in this years spring game. Hopefully someone on staff is paying attention to this.

Pringle Pass Pro - Pringle was RB1 vs NC St & VT. RB2 vs Pitt. Beck didn't get killed. Beck didn't even get touched. Pringle gave up 0 Sacks & 0 QB Hits is pass pro last year. Just because pass pro isn't his strength doesn't mean he's a liability.

I am not missing the context. As far as I am concerned Brown is a legend and I'd buy him dinner on the spot. Pringle is legit and I expect him to be that man this season.

Idk how much Pringle will contribute this season but this kid is a serious weapon. Kid can be electric. Dawson needs to find a way to get Pringle, Toney, Lyle and Jacobs on the field at the same time. Good luck if you’re on defense. 😭

A two second google search debunks that zero potato “Fact”. I’m no processed, dehydrated flake crap food apologist but really?

they are not potato chips, but yes they have "flakes". the FDA does not allow them to use potato chips on their labels or marketing

Pass Pro is the single most overrated reason a player should be on the bench there is. This isn't the NFL. If it was a question of effort or just being a moron and missing assignments that would be one thing. Getting blown up by a top 5 pick is entirely different. If you show effort pass blocking and you are an explosive difference maker with the ball in your hands it's stupid as **** for you not to play.

The ONLY reason Pringle not getting Playoff snaps wasn't a problem is because Fletcher finally for the first time in his career began generating explosive plays or just 7+ yard runs in general tbh...

Now I will say THIS YR give we are likely to have a far more explosive Pass Game, NEEDING a super explosive run game likely won't be as important as it was last season. So maybe now you can say the negatives of Pringle who is still young could outweigh the benefits. But last year that simple was not the case.

When as a coach you are terrified what your QB will do if he gets pressured in the pocket, then yes pass protection is huge and needed to be thought about when putting a RB on the field in a tight low scoring playoff game.
Now this year with the QB we have, it's not as big of a concern unless the OL doesn't get the job done which I don't anticipate will be the case. I watched plenty of film on Mensah where he was constantly flushed from the pocket and he did great rolling out and hitting players on the run.
But come on brother, last year with Beck it had to be a deciding factor and not trying to slam Carson because he was great for us, but he was limited with a collapsing pocket.

It's exactly the opposite imo. Because Beck was a statue we needed to have as many explosive playmakers on the field as we could.
Your strategy leads to an anemic offense which is what we saw for the entire middle of the season. There is a reason the offense picked up steam with Pringle in.
You can't just 4gard your way into a successful offense. Explosive plays are the single most important factor for offensive success

Also the problem is it just assumes Fletcher or Brown don’t miss blocks, which as much as people want to believe, is entirely false. Idk why people act like Fletcher has been some elite pass blocker… plus he basically has provided zero in the pass game over his career…. There is a reason staff even had Brown over Fletcher in critical moments when we needed to pass…

One thing is not like the other on that list. I've never seen the speed/explosiveness from him that some refer to. He had one long run against North by Northeast Adirondocks State where there was no defender within 5 yards of him. That's not proof.

Nice to see @DMoney and AR82 giving Pringle his flowers on the pod today.

Recent shows have been excellent. Getting warmed up for when the season hits....

Unless an RB is the next coming of Eric ****erson carrying the rock, I would argue that pass pro must at or near the top of the list in deciding which RB to start.

What is the marginal difference in value of a RB vs a QB? Specifically, how big of an impact will RB1 vs RB2 have on the game's expected outcome? How big of an impact will QB1 vs QB2 have on the game's expected outcome?

Maybe if you’re comparing a rb who misses every block vs a rb who makes every block. But that isn’t the case at all. It’s insane that people act like Pringle is incompetent or an unwilling blocker yet act like Fletcher is an unquestionable elite blocker. It just isn’t factually true. The marginal difference is significantly less than people make it out to be. Yet we tangibly had SIGNIFICANT increases in explosiveness with Pringle in. At least until Fletcher significantly improved in the playoffs. And that was FAR more impactful

I would expect teams to test our interior OL so yeah I could see blitz pickup and pass pro being a big deal

Still, not worried about any of these guys when it comes to that. Fletcher took **** for 3 years on this board. He’s just gotten better and better every year

Pringle doesn’t need to do much so he can be an electric change of pace guy this year

Brown and Lyle sitting at maybe RB3 and RB4 is crazy depth

I feel like he will get some snaps during the season vs ACC types and sometimes look like hte number 2 guy. But when its playoff mode and better talent start blitzing and **** like that Brown will take the RB2 duty. I remember in the playoffs Pringle getting his *** run over on a blitz and never seeing the field again and rightfully so, super talented fast asf but if you cant pick up the blitz elite defenses will know why you are in the game and key on you. They will know you not in there to block

The hate on Marty is wild. Did yall watch the games or are your memories that bad?

The strength of our RB room is the versatility. They all bring different strengths and skill sets. It makes us dangerous because we can adapt to opponents and situations.

Being higher on Pringle is not hating on Marty Brown. At least that where I am on this issue.

As for the versatility aspect, I honestly think Marty Brown's reps are better suited, not just for short yardage but for bad weather games as well. If we get an early season snow at Notre Dame, I would bump Marty Brown's reps up a notch.
