Get used to it

Mike and the rest of you in the pod need to chill with the Lyle hype. He's done nothing to earn the hype at all. He's 4th or 5th string. I hope he's legit, but stop the ridiculous hype. Let him earn it in crunch time.

Regarding Barkate, wouldn't be surprised if he actually leads Baby Jesus in some stats. Teams are gonna overload to him. Barkate just makes plays which is exactly what the team needs.
I will never forget how excited I was for him going into last year. The flashes he showed, especially the USF run which I saw live… had me convinced he was going to be an AA back last year.

About 5 carries into the notre dame game I looked to my buddy and said **** he looks uncomfortable back there. Granted he got hurt shortly after but from what we saw of him last year and even in the clips I’ve seen from spring he just doesn’t look comfortable as a RB at this level to me. I’m not buying the hype either.

But but but, how can we insure that Barkate is being forced to compete for a stating job, like that one porster demanded in his brilliant and insightful porst on the subject matter of stating...

He atoned himself

Man, porsters better take note to never **** you off / make a really dumb take. I sincerely admire the venom and pettiness and aspire to reach your levels, while also freely admitting that I am an excellent apprentice up to the task. You did however leave the part where the original portster wrote "This is a terribly incorrect idea....I will own it," which demonstrates a touch of honesty and class...

I love ya, man...

Buuuutttt...

The original porster started a thread that lasted for 14 pages and generated nearly 300 posts. And it took him a MONTH to "retract" his original statement.

In short, I believe the OP should not have done an "edit" to the original post a month later, but an outright deletion of his thread. Which can be arranged...

Otherwise, I don't disagree with the rest of your post. You are absolutely correct that I have a long memory and will not hesitate to remind people when they say things that are really stupid and/or short-sighted. I'm trying to be less venomous and more sarcastic in my old age, but it's a fine line...

@DMoney How would you compare Mensah to Ward's Spring Game? Or is it just too hard to assess given the disparity of the DB talent vs. 2024?

What i hope we really get used to is that critical slide to the left from Mensah. It makes all the difference in the world. A DB's (or coverage player's) nightmare. Ask anyone who played Cam Ward in '24. It's often the difference between explosive plays and otherwise. Even think about Beck's Ole Miss roll out that ended up in a bomb to Marion. Great offense is played within these additional ticks QBs give themselves.

Keep thinking this.. buddy was offered BIG MONEY and a starting spot at many schools! The staff worked hard to get him to stay! Now why would they do this if they didn’t believe he was a dude!?

A month late. Rejected.
I love ya man but but but…

1. He poRsted that thing a month ago and there was nothing going on to change anything until the spring game. Barkate had a great game and the poster owned up entirely. I think that’s reasonable. Owning up and being able to admit a mistake is an admirable trait. Not everyone can be right all the time save a few I suppose. There’s people on here who go back and delete their incorrect predictions and bad takes after the fact. He didn’t do anything like that. He said I can feel free to delete the whole thread essentially.

2. He didn’t change his initial post or try to cover his mistake, he simply added the edit separately with a date owning up to it.

This is what I would call fully open disclosure.

He should get a pat on the back and a cookie for his humility and honest and contrite approach.

Exactly what I noticed. The great QBs can throw accurately from all angles, moving in any direction. Beck was decent at that, but Mensah is elite. Pressure doesn't mean much if it doesn't effect QB accuracy.

Nope. Not going there. The original porster explicitly and admittedly ignored Barkate's production at ACC Champion Duke and formed some half-baked hypothesis on Barkate's abilities based, in all likelihood, on Barkate's skin tone. Not to mention the fact that spring games are "underwear Olympics" for the most part, so I'm not going to allow the 2-hour scrimmage to be the OP's "come-to-Jesus" revelation moment. There was ample evidence throughout the spring (and prior years) that Barkate was **** good, but the OP never took back his original post until it really didn't matter any longer. He even did the "I won't root for injury, but I'm rooting for injury" nonsense. In the rhetoric of the Roman Republic, this type of comment was called "litotes".
