Gattis production at Michigan

You must not have been reading this board. The whole week leading up to the game, the people with their eyes open were very unhappy with how the offense had looked against Southern Miss.

I’m on record with the opinion that if our offense resembled his offenses at Michigan, he’d flop and we’d struggle. I was told that he was going to be different here. That his Michigan offenses were bad because Harbaugh and his lack of quarterbacks. I hoped that was the case but so far it doesn’t appear like we’re doing anything different

But there still isn't any new information. Whether he failed or lit it up this year, we already knew what he did in 2019 and 2020.

2020 and 2021 were both with Lashlee.

offensive production is the same with Gattis and Lashlee.

Scary thing is.....I think its more Mario then Gattis. He had the same type of offense in Oregon. That was the knock on Mario before coming here
Look, I saw what Mario did in Columbus last year, if that offense did that, **** man I don't give a f*ck if we switch to a wing T. We fix the red-zone the season will be fine. Chill now.

Not trying to make excuses. I don't like the play calling down in the red zone, but it could be that the WRs aren't reliable. I was at the championship game this year, and once Alabama lost Williamson, after losing Metchie, the offense was nowhere near where it had been earlier in the year. I think the same thing has happened with Miami. Restrepo was the reliable option. Now even George is hurt. Gattis is going to have to earn that money this season. Going run-heavy all the time isn't going to work. He's going to have to get the WRs running the correct, disciplined routes, and quit making excuses for when they don't.

Are you saying the talent levels between a 7-5 ACC coastal also ran and a 12-2 Big 10 champ who made the playoff are comparable?

A better comparison would be what each coach has done at Miami. If at the end of the year, Miami is averaging 34 points and 440 yards per game, then it’s equal. Although considering the huge increase in spending on coaching staff, you’d like to think there would be an increase in production.

I agree. We should compare ALL things. Talent. Schedules. Lashlee had better WRs, Gattis has a better OL. I think if we consider everything, Gattis is on par with Lashlee, imo.

We’ll have to see. Like I said, if at the end of the year they’re scoring 34 points and 440 yards, it’s even. Although they’re paying a ton more for even production.

I agree. I expect Gattis to surpass Lashlee.

Not a fan of Gattis work and so far what he’s done here, but it’s very unlikely anything happens till February.

Lashlee was making less than half Gattis is. When you make what Gattis does, you need to produce a top 10 offense year in and year out. He is making top 7 OC money.

Gattis was probably upset with Michigan because he was continuing to lose control of his offense.
he texted his players that he was leaving bc he was getting respect. tells you what you need to know about what Michigan thought of him

But...but.. He won the broyles award..... And so did Brian Van Gorder

Lashlee also inherited and offense that finished 98th in total offense and 90th in scoring offense.

Gattis inherited and offense that finished 19th in total offense and 23rd in scoring. There should be a significant improvement for what they’re paying him.
