Gattis leaving?

I’d say there is zero percent he comes back.

Moving on from Gattis has to be immediate IMO. If these last 3 games are throw-aways then why not do it now? If we suspect that TVD and possibly Garcia are leaving then we will need to be in the portal for a QB immediately and no QB with a pulse is coming as we are currently constructed. Mario cannot lament over this hire for weeks/months again as we will be outside looking in.

You could see how clearly the lack of depth to this offense and the total simplification was evident ifyou watched the spring game. Like watching something out of the 60’s I know.

That being said we are in a struggle to get recruits and transfers. Perception is everything and the Rashada shocker must be absorbed quickly. Your going to fire him DO IT NOW ! And same with the DC clear the decks. Like owning a bad stock …don’t hold on to it .

I think steele is fine for another year or two.

Agreed if gattis is going to go you might as well make the move or at least have your ppl behind the scenes lining up you next option so you don’t take 3 months to hire them.

Robert Anae has been brought up in this thread and he’s a good example of adjusting his system to the players available.

In 2021, Virginia was very pass happy. They didn’t have the horses to run against most opponents. They had a 28/46 run pass ratio. They put up over 500 yards per game and 35 points per game.

Now at Syracuse, he doesn’t have the quarterback or receivers to throw for 400 yards a game so his run/pass ratio is 34/27. They run at a slower pace than Virginia did and he’s managing to squeeze 30 points per game from a really weak Syracuse offense.

Anae is a former college lineman who spent a majority of his early career as an OL coach. He understands when he has the horses on the line to be run heavy and when he needs to rely more on his skill players.

I can honestly say I barely knew of the guy until his name started popping up here as an OC candidate. The point you make about him adjusting couldn't be more true.

I watched his offense at Virginia in 2021 and Syracuse in 2022, and came away thinking I was watching two completely different coordinators. At Virginia, he used alot of motion to create mismatches. I was expecting the same when I searched for Syracuse tape, and their offense was based on the read option. He puts up numbers everywhere !

If anyone knows more about the guy I'd love to hear it.

Some of you guys will continue to be insanely disappointed with Cristobal.

You can switch the OC, but the pace and style will remain the same.
Those people want air raid…

People who are real understand the run gsme is a must… bama still runs the ball, LSU was still about running the ball in 19, OSU very much employs the running game…

Just miss me with condensed formations and “check with me calls” that take 20-30 seconds while the OC runs through their telephone style playbook

most people on this site are more worried about what our offense looks like and less concerned about the actuall success of our team

obviously gattis needs to go but we had lashlee and were still a terrible football team. there's a reason why lane kiffin and mike leach aren't winning national championships and UGA, BAMA, and Clemson are.

Mario beat Ohio State in the horseshoe last year and won 2 conference titles. If he wins 2 conference titles here in the next few years, I don't give a f*** what we trot out there on offense

i'll also add Linoln Riley, Chip Kelly, and Ryan Day to that list (although Ohio state might win it all this year) of amazing offenses we all want but don't get the job fully done

Jimmy and Jo's > X's and O's almost all the time. Let's just get a competent OC who can recruit, stack the roster, and let time do the rest. No specific scheme leads to success other than just having more talent than everyone else. Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, and UGA prove that year in and year out

You realize that some of the top rushing offenses in college football are running the Air Raid? It’s not 2003. Air Raid doesn’t mean throwing the ball every down.

The only reason Miami won 15 games the previous two seasons was because of the offense. Could you imagine having Trash Gattis offense with Manny’s defense? We’d lose 40-0 every week.

Top tier talent is a must have, properly utilizing that talent is the difference between LSU before they brought in Brady and LSU after they brought in Brady.

But if you have literally twice as many blue chips as your competition like Georgia then yea there are probably only a couple games a year where scheme even matters.

I hope homer gets the **** out of MIAMI campus. He's a cancer.mario better hire a bad **** an offensive coordinator. He's killing are QB'S. HE'S THE WORST OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR MIAMI EVER HAD. I'LL HELP THE MOVING. HE'S DISGUSTING.

It doesn't matter who we hire at OC. unless the OLine gets a major upgrade we will be having this exact same thread this time next year even if Mullen, frost, Urban Meyer, Saban come here to coach offense.

It 100% matters who the OC is. You put this offense in space under a Brles offense or an air raid it would look night and day different. Bigger splits for the Ol which helps with blocking and wider throwing windows . The wr’s aligned to the hashes would help with getting them open, more room to run routes and the throws would be quicker.

Lashlee schemed guys wiiiiiiide open last year, from Arroyo, Mallory, Knighton, Harley and others. His scheming is how Rambo kept ending up in 1 v 1’s.

Gattis has absolutely no creativity , horrible route concepts and no feel for the game. On top of that his ego is way bigger than his resume.
