Pictures don't lie. The only way they had 47,000 at the Spring game is if they counted every single human being on the entirety of the campus that day.
Good lord, I remember back in the good ol' days when Slingblade Billy Napier got FIVE verbals in one day.
It's time to chill out on "hey, this brand new Gator corch sure can recruit, can't he?". This happens EVERY ******* TIME. Much though I hate to admit it, a lot of kids from Florida and south Georgia actually like and respect The Gator as an institution.
It is VERY easy for a brand new Gator corch to walk around with zero baggage and a compelling vision for the future. Every Gator corch since Steve Spurrier has been able to get a bunch of recruits early in in his tenure, but only Spurrier and ***-dumpster were able to back up the "vision" promises after the first few years. All the rest of the Gator corches started tailing off in recruiting when the results didn't match the empty promises.
Give it time. Even corny corches occasionally succeed. The Gator might be able to beat some SEC teams that have made similar reaches with coaching hires (i.e., Alabama), but I tend to believe that Florida is going to struggle with the overall quality of the conference, particularly with sub-par quarterbacking.
Florida knows that their brand is on the brink and so they are throwing big money around from missing on Lane to prop up the recruiting while also taking advantage of the first year new coach bump. Give them this year to suck on the field smart of them to try to get kids on board before they start playing.
Once they suck again this year money will be tighter and the tears will flow again.
