No, but this is the same kind of attitude that killed golden and many other g5 coaches. He is settling for a career backup from Georgia tech only because he hired the offensive coordinator. He is not attacking it as if Florida is a premier brand. I’m not saying it currently is, but if you take a significant step up in brand without swinging for the fences on the elite, you’re setting yourself up for failure.
I mean I get the allure of wanting to hire a successful g5 coach but this happens everytime a top program decides to go in that direction.

It’s all on the job training for the p4 level. Easily to negative recruit against and you have no coaching tree.

Oh Lord, Sumrall really is trying to be like Lane. 🙄

But he’s been sitting behind Haynes King the past two years and pretty much just doing mop-up duty. The only game he got real reps was the NCST game in 2024 because of King’s injury and that’s the game where he got ACC ROW.

I just think we don’t know yet, but it depends on what Sumrall puts together. I don’t have high hopes for Philo to knock it out of the park at UF given what they are going through, but I don’t think he’s bad.
What’s his connection to Sumrall and/or the gator?

Anthony Chickillo level loyalty. As much as I hate the Gators, you have to admire the kid.
Yeah, I’d love more kids choosing UM that feel that way - but it’s not necessarily a good business move. Not in this situation. He’d clearly be better off at a better positioned program.
