Living in Gainesville I hear the Kool-Aid 24/7 and let me tell you they’re absolutely sold on Lagway. More so than that they are sold on their OL/WR room each being top 10 nationally (which I don’t buy it at whatsoever idc what PFF says)

Napier is a worse coach than Mario lol he is 3-9 on the road since 2022 (3-12 if you wanna count UGA as a road game) on the Flip side Mario is 13-7 at home & in 23’ & 24’ he’s went a combined 11-2.

We may not have Ward but Beck will be between Ward and TVD and to be honest I think a really good comparison would be 2020 D’Eriq King (just from an impact standpoint not from a similarities standpoint)

Not to mention our OL is better this year, the only thing is how proven our Skill position production is. We saw glimpses of what Lofton, Lyle & Trader are capable of, Mark Fletcher gets a whole offseason and already averaged 5.5 yards per carry on 110 Carries, CharMar is going to be an interesting one as he won the Jerry Rice award last year with 1300+ yards

Bauman/Schott will be huge for us, HOW we utilize them I think we will directly impact the success of the offense the most imo. Beck loves his TEs and those are 2 big bodies for him.

Napier’s scheme is not QB friendly, his playcalling isn’t even offensively friendly it’s just offensive to watch. If the UF defense didn’t COMPLETELY change the way they played in the last half of the season we wouldn’t be talking about any Lagway hype LMAO

I’m still more confident that Mario will get 2 W’s against ND & UF then I am that we will not stumble against a random *** ACC team, @VT & @Pitt to end the year will give me WW2 type PTSD I just know it

What bull****... you gotta work hard to KEEP that much weight on at 450lbs! When you weigh as much as a rhino, the pounds come off in dozens with just a modicum of moderation.

To be honest, I don’t think either of them are great pure football coaches. I do think Mario is a better recruiter and leader, which helps mask some of his coaching flaws. The good thing is, you don’t always have to be an elite football coach to be a successful head coach. Sometimes, being a strong leader who can recruit, delegate, and hire a solid staff is enough—and I think that’s what Mario is.

If these guys were judged solely on their ability to coach football, I think Mario would be an offensive line coach at Texas, Georgia, or another top-tier program. Napier? He’d probably be a wide receivers coach at South Carolina or somewhere like that.

Hard to win 12 in a row, especially 7 without a bye week. Just get to 4-0 in out of conference play. Hopefully, by then, we've shrugged off last season's debacle on defense and are firing on all cylinders.
 
I will probably get a lot of hate but I’d rather beat ND & UF and lose 2 ACC games, I actually won’t be surprised to see us go 8-0 at home but 2-2 on the road anddd I don’t expect us to lose @FSU. So KNOWING Mario and Miami I will have to say that we most likely will lose @SMU and 1 of @VT and @PITT and tbh if that happens we MIGHT miss the ACC championship but we are in for the CFP.

In this Scenario we’d have wins Vs ND/UF/Louisville/Syracuse, 1 of @VT or @Pitt + @FSU and I’d be more than okay with that considering the last 20 years

Wouldn't be mad at this as long as we annihilate Cuse and beat FSU. 10-2 with a chance for the ACC title would be nice. Prefer to beat everyone but I'm a realist.

I got it. But what about specifically the 6 games Lagway started? My point is it’s retarded to compare an entire seasons statistics for one guy that played an entire season vs one that played half. I don’t even have to look at the stats to know that UFs defense was lights out those games. We couldn’t stop anything, literally anything, the second half of the season.

Napier’s development continues to be an issue too. It’s not just S&C issues like this Bucs kid. There have been multiple players that transferred out of UF that then spoke publicly about how they were finally getting real coaching and development from their new schools that they had missed out on under Billy and his staff. It’s a huge problem. He should not be a coach at this level, or possibly not even a head coach.

What matters is getting to the ACCCG, and hopefully winning. If your preferred scenario doesn't bring us that it hurts the program more both short & long term.

Then we’ll hear that Mario can’t win the big games. He’ll get negatively recruited either way.

This is a ridiculous hypothetical argument. The team is going to try to win them all.

Brother, I agree. Don’t even get me started on the morons I’ve seen on this board that said “our defense wasn’t that bad! It was Cam/Dawson/the offense’s fault! Here look at the stats show we were a top 30 defense.” **** is infuriating to read.

With our MUCH improved DB’s back there I’d bet on 3 picks and 1 of them to the house…if we can step out to a 14 -21 point lead early….ok WHEN we step out to a 14-21 point lead and put them in a catch up mode where he has to pass 30+ times it will be one glorious day and all the DJ hype will be O-VER…

The argument I think exists cuz we all know we aren't gonna run the regular season table. We are hoping the losses we do have hurt us as little as possible.

It would be awesome if we could handle our business against ND and the UF gets smoked the week before our game. That would probably turn the Rock into a madhouse for their game with far fewer UF alumni making the trip. Would be a nice opportunity to show them our "empty" stadium that provides no home field advantage

I’m emotionally prepared for 10-2, that’s my prediction without the orange and green glasses on. I think very highly of this deep as a whole, I also believe that Trader, Lofton, Beck, Troure, Bell/Cooper/Mauigoa, Lucas, Frédérique, Scott & Marion, Bain/Messidor/Lightfoot & Baby Jesus all have breakout seasons, I know that seems like a long list but this team IS talented, it should be long.

This is our 3rd year with Dawson and no one can say they’re not familiar with the system and I think that’ll pay off. I also think Hetherman will have an amazing Defense, he got Minnesota where it was without 1/2 the talent that he will have here.

But 10-2 is where my expectation is. I do, unfortunately believe that we will have 2 slip ups, if we don’t then that’ll show Mario has finally built a CULTURE here that we haven’t seen in 20+ years
