Tears Gator Tears

Don't get me wrong, hate for the Gator aside, Lagway is definitely a talent and should improve for next year but the over the top hype is a sight to behold. We land a handful of key portal guys and I expect us to be favored to beat them again next year.
This. Lagway looks like he could be good but his passing numbers are pretty pedestrian outside of that Samford game. Of course, Miami doesn't have a quarterback right now, but if I am a receiver, I'm not rushing to go play for Florida and its mediocre passing attack.

Don’t tell them but their offense didn’t score more with Lagway than it did with Mertz. For all the hype, they were 68th in scoring and 81st in total offense. Take away FCS Sanford where they scored 45 and had 600 yards and it gets a lot worse. Their defense was actually the strong part of their team but half those guys are in the portal or graduating.
Exactly I believe they was just as good with the other qb . He came in vs us throw the across his body that cost them a pick and put us in scoring range . Lagway will get better and probably by his third year be lethal . Has a way higher ceiling than Mertz. He sticks around 4 years he will be in the heisman hunt or maybe his 3rd year regardless we want see him when him at his best .

Yes. Two things can be true at the same time.

---Lagway is talented and showed an EARLY Cam-Ward-like ability to stay calm and shrug off mistakes that he made.

---Lagway also did not set the world on fire with great stats and accomplished about the same team goals that a healthy Mertz would have accomplished (assuming both would benefit from the late-season defensive improvements).

Boy the roller coaster of postive to negative for Florida is actually impressive. Hope back in July, Worry after our game, doom once Mertz went down and they lost a few, hope with Lagway and a few wins/close games, ****iness when some big names got tossed around as locks, to now confusion but teetering on negativity. Transfers out, none in, but Lagway is still there.
