What in the actual fvck? In the last 9 years, the Gaytors have had two 4-win seasons and one 6-win season, after years of getting the "best" on campus. So it seems incredibly POSSIBLE "for them not to excel".

You have to give Redman credit, he really knows how to cut-and-paste. I mean, not as well as I can, but still.

Was just reading about that and couldn't be happier that it's happening to the Gators who we've known were a bunch of racists for years anyways.

Actually read the article though and was expecting it to be a lot worse than what it was. He said a coach referred to him as "Otis, my man" and he found that racially insensitive? Calling the guy Gorilla is obviously unacceptable but "My man"? 🤷‍♂️

A whole lot of little things that might seem harmless indivually can equal a big thing lumped together. And that's what any good attorney would attempt to do to win for their client.

Yea if they can establish a history or pattern of the behavior then that will surely help the case. I just hope they have better examples of racism than that when they bring it to court.

Have you seen Animal House? The scene where the white fraternity brothers go into a black club (it was the 1960s) and act overly familiar with the bandleader? There is a reason why that particular phrasing could come across as problematic.

No problem, happy to help. I am not saying that he "should" or "should not" be offended by it, but there is a certain context for that phrase. I would be curious as to how the guy said "Otis, my man", because if he said it as a movie quote, then it would be very relevant as to the interpretation.

And anyone who reads my posts knows I love to quote movies and TV shows. But I don't do it as much around co-workers.

For sure, context means everything. On it's own that phrase is about as harmless as can be on the surface, but it being used in a movie with racial undertones makes significantly more sense as to why someone would be offended by it.

Yes. Many years ago, in a job environment, I attempted to use (and then explain) the "*** in an extremely uncomfortable place/back of a Volkswagen" recurring joke from Mallrats. It did not go well. I have learned from my mistakes.
