How is it a working model to spend $150M on new coaches and buyouts every 3-4 years?

Yep, it’s bad. I really wanted y’all to see this article, because it perfectly summed up everything I’ve been saying about the AD over the past year or so. He is a nightmare, and they are screwed as long as he’s still there.

Of course, UF just gave him an extension through 2030, even AFTER all these scandals took place.

The extension included:

- a raise
- a new total annual compensation of $2.075 million, and various bonuses and benefits.
- AND a potential semi-retirement role for Stricklin after his AD contract ends, allowing him to serve as a special assistant for five years.

They are so screwed.

It only works because LSU is a public university so they only spend the tax payers money. So basically the people in Louisiana get screwed over by this consistent incompetence. And apparently they think college football is a good way to waste their tax dollars.

that’s not even close to true. no top-tier coach is paid entirely with state funds. they might have a nominal small salary, but most of the salary is paid through revenue generated by the athletic department via operations revenue and boosters/development. they’re still state employees and will be the highest paid state employees but not via taxes.

The university receives a tremendous amount of taxpayer money. And if even one cent of that taxpayer money goes to buying out coaches, then the tax payers are being screwed over. It is poor management of tax payer money.

It's so weird, outside of the AD Stricklin and that one big booster (Gary Condron), I can't think of any Gator sportswriter, pundit, website owner, booster, former coach/player, or fan who was advocating for Jon "Tulane Train" Sumrall...
