Regarding Tom Petty, I saw him at the ABC lounge in Gainesville in the 70's. Right down toward I75 from campus on the north side of the street. Can't remember if there was a cover. If so, it was cheap because I was pretty broke back then. Place had the circular bar that rotated. Good times. He's from there.

I'm sure they take a stab at Lane. Fisch & Golesh seem more in their zone. Don't see Franklin going into the SEC pressure cooker or Freeman leaving a solid situation.

I think their fanbase would riot if it was Franklin. No way they can hire they guy that just got fired for failing to win the big games. Not with their unrealistic expectations

I’ve also been seeing a lot of Cignetti and Freeman. Some Fisch, Lashlee, and Golesh. Even a Beamer, believe it or not.
I haven’t yet seen a Franklin. Will let y’all know if I do.

The gator ego isn't going to let them hire either of the names that they should hire
James Franklin - because he got fired. Tainted now. They should make that hire and say he didn’t win there because it’s Penn State and he will win here because it’s Florida. But they won’t.
Jeff Lebby - won’t hire him because he’s at Mississippi State and Mullen came from there too.
They’ll hire Golesh and wonder why they never win more than 7-8 games.
**** on top of that they won’t hire Sumrall because he’s at a G5 school in Louisiana and that was Billy’s resume as well. They won’t hire Ryan Silverfield because Norvell and Fuente had the same resume.
People are firing coaches because they’re not winning like Mario/Cignetti/Lanning but then you have to hire someone that isn’t cut from that cloth and won’t get those results either.

No matter what, the Gators are in for a rude awakening. They haven’t had success, landing the big fish, their last several searches, and even if they managed to pull it off, college football is littered with “big name” hires who are falling spectacularly on their face.

Heck they might be Georgia . I haven’t seen one thing about ga that’s impressive . Refs helped them vs Tennessee and last week . They should have 3 Ls . I have Gt beating Ga this year unless refs decide to help like they did last year for them
