Here’s the thing and not to take anything away from what DJ accomplished last year, but there’s a thing called tape and it’s what every P4 staff studied in the offseason.

DJ caught a lot of teams off guard last year, and many counted them out so they had a nice 2nd half season run.

That will not happen this year. Can guarantee you that. He will have a Sophomore Slump due to lingering physical issues from playing so much his Freshman year AND teams will scheme for him.

LSU is going to try to annihilate him, and if he makes it through that game in one piece our guys will definitely put him on the sidelines.

He will not be under Center for UT.

Their team last year really reminds me of the 2021 Canes. Team that starts off the season getting blasted, coach looks cooked, and they find their next QB who lights up some defenses and pulls off a few ranked upsets. We know what happened the next year.

Same mocks who had TVD going first? No flack at you just early mocks beyond a top 5 (maybe 10) no doubters is just throwing names at a wall to fill out 32 spots…

Not disagreeing with your post, and definitely not arguing, I just find it so insane that Gator fans overlook how well their defense played in those final four games. The last 4 Gator opponents averaged 13 points per game. The only other time the Gators held a team to less than 13 points was when they played SAMFORD!

It was the Lagway effect! No way they do that for Mertz. If you can’t see that, you don't know ball. Oh and btw, if DJ would have played the entire game against UM, we would be **** Bait and Billy would have been Coach of the Year. Oh, and Desmind Fatson would have been a 1st rounder too (not to or two). We may have Baby Jesus but they got Da Gawd!

Every single time I bring this up, I am met with, "You just don't watch tape, you're going off of stats". The defense kept every single one of those games (Minus Texas) in a winnable spot.

I compare this to the Raiders taking Jamarcus Russel so high when everyone that watched him any amount of time knew he wasn’t going to make it in the NFL…AR better learn how to play TE or RB cause when Daniel Jones beats you out I’m gonna go out on a limb and say your QB career isn’t looking very bright.

They shouldn’t have made him a day 1 starter. That was suicide by stupidity. EVERYONE knew he needed a season on the bench no matter what but even with that being said…..

being on the bench doesn’t fix accuracy issues; you either have it or you don’t. He doesn’t have it, and he never will imo.
