Gaby’s pre-camp buzz

I appreciate the passion don’t necessarily disagree, but the season is just that. It’s not a night.

For example, if we lose 24-23 to Notre Dame, and then run the table, finish 11-1, win the ACC and get the #3 overall seed and first-round bye, bro when I tell you I won’t give a flying, walking, jogging, wobbling **** about that Notre Dame game….
Miami won't ever be great again until the fans are. Imagine typing this soft **** when Miami was relevant.

Too much???

Biggest lie ever told was the Jeremiah Smith transfer. Biggest miss still for Mario which costed him and may cost him for two more years. Dude did an Al Golden Cook situation. Same sh different HC
Dude stop it. Cam hurt us by declaring for draft. I know people who sat with JJ at games. He thought tvd was trash and wasn’t impressed what he saw with Emory. Everyone forgets cam declared. Not sayin he 100% companies cam’s but qb situation was a big factor.

I'd say difficulty is expected to be:

ND > UF > Louisville / SMU > FSU (Just due to Rivalry I believe it'll be close) > NCSt > VTech > Syracuse > Pitt > Stanford > USF > Bethune

In terms of Importance I'd say:

Lousiville / SMU > ND > FSU / UF > NCST > Syracuse > VTech > Pitt > Stanford > USF > Bethune

Of course ND and UF are pretty much irrelevant when it comes to making the ACC Championship Game, which given they should be our 2 toughest and earliest games is a good thing. If we only lose 1 ACC game I think we are in the ACCCG against Clemson.

I think the key game is really Louisville. Obviously NCSt and after on this list should all be expected wins, no excuses. FSU is a rivalry so even if I don't think they're very good I usually expect it to be close. I'd still expect the win of course. Louisville and SMU are the keys to the season, so as long as we beat one of them, I really like our chances. And the good news is we do have a bye before Louisville and it's at home on a Friday. So I view that one as the game we absolutely gotta have. Losing to Lousiville puts a LOT of pressure on the SMU game for sure.

I don't actually view the ND game as something that'll likely end up telling us too much, like It's probably more telling to how we'd perform in playoffs or against clemson than it is running the table in ACC tbh. ND is just going to be so much more different than anyone else we play on our ACC Schedule. Like even if we come out and kill ND, I won't think that will be a very good indicator on how we'll perform against Louisville and SMU who are our 2 most important games of the season. because A) Its game 1, B) ND will be starting a true frosh while Lousville and SMU will have pretty good proven QBs and C) I think they will have by far the best defense we play in the regular season, and it won't even be close.

10-2 is what I'd predict. I'd pick us to go 11-1 before 9-3 though. And Honestly I'd pick us to beat ND before I picked us to beat SMU AND Louisville.

I’d flip Pitt and Cuse. Cuse should be rebuilding this year while Pitt has some pieces to take a step forward.

In fact, I might have Pitt in front of VT, esp considering outside in November.

I have watched the Gator game from last year 3 times and the Gators self destructed via 2 horrific penalties that changed the entire complexion of the game. With that being said, we no longer have Cam and he had an awesome day. They have a returning QB that matured quite a bit over last year. Let's see what happens but we need Carson Beck to have an outstanding year. The defense must step up and be aggressive. Both ND and FL games are not only winnable but anything less in my book is a failure. I just don't have a ton of faith in Mario as a head coach on the sidelines.
They had 261 total yards against one of if not the worst UM defense in our history. We are much better on D this year and should have an explosive offense again. How do you think with them getting most likely beat up by LSU the week before are they going to roll into Hard Rock and win that game. I think its going to be a blowout again.

also al the damari brown to safety ppl...you know what safeties have to do...tackle?.

what has shown from both brown brothers that show that they are good tacklers despite their sizes.?.
The interesting opinions of the Internet. When a DB can play all positions interchangeably, CB (boundary or field), nickel, Free or Strong Safety, just based on measurables.

Not like every position asks for a different skill set and pending what type of offense your playing against...

Im seeing some say playoff caliber team, top10 team in the country

Which unit on the team is playoff caliber or top10? Which position group?

Id say beck at his best is a top10 qb, i don’t think our supporting cast will get that out of him tho. But thats at least a possibility, what else?

Pitt is an interesting team. They finished the season on a 6 game losing streak losing to a bad BC team and Toledo in the bowl game. Since it will be cold this game will be interesting.

Imagine being a tough guy fan when your team has been losing to mid-ACC teams for 20 years.
Nothing tough about it. You would slap yourself for thinking something like that pre-2004. The bar and expectation level has lowered do far that people are now just happy to beat lowly ACC teams and dont care about rivals. Next you guys will be telling me how fsu isn't a must win because we have 7 other conference games.

there are probably 4-6 teams that are top tier (even those have some question marks). Then the next tier is about 15 deep and any of them can jump into the back end of top 10 or higher if things break right Miami is in that second tier.

Good question. “Playoff caliber” is tough because I keep looking around at other teams and realizing there’s a lot of question marks

If it’s to be believed that Mario has been stacking talent then some of these 2024 guys should be stepping up

I think it’s a playoff caliber team simply because of the sum of the parts along with the hope that Heatherman can have a Dawson like effect on the defense

We’ve got question marks for sure especially if you want to talk about being higher than Top 12-13 but I think we added some sneaky good additions in the portal (Lucas/Toure/Brown/Marion/Bauman come to mind)

Beck, OL. D end room has the talent level to step up to that threshold.
