2027 Gabriel Osborne Jr 4* CB from Mustang, OK (Mustang HS)

The competition is crazy. I like that a lot. I like how physical they are. I’m very violent and physical. I feel like I can bring that to the team. They see me as a DB all around. They think I can play everything.

.......

The Sooners are doing everything they can to keep him home.

However, Miami is a legitimate contender in this recruitment.

“They really bumped up,” Osborne said. “It’s a green flag. I like them a lot. I love the coaches and players. I love the defense. That’s what I’m really looking for — a school that can put me in the best position for me.”

.........

Osborne has not locked in any official visits.

db i really really like n wish we could land right here.

oklahoma currently has the #1 class n for a strange reason in state they are loaded thios year.

In terms of the big name guys, communication is particularly strong with CB Gabe Osborne (Oklahoma City, OK)

Hope we put full press on him. After YEARS of lackluster CB play, I refuse to go back. Last season was amazing to watch, and I don’t remember the last time we been this stacked. Hope we hit it out of the park with the hire, and clean up.

Intel on Osborne has been tough to come by, as the elite defender isn't talking much these days. 247Sports spoke with several industry sources to get the latest on the race for the dynamic corner.

According to those we spoke with, four schools have separated for Osborne. Oklahoma, Ohio State, Alabama, and Miami are the schools to watch at the moment. A three-sport athlete who is also a high-level basketball player and track and field star, Osborne has been focused on his spring sports more than recruiting. He's been on several unofficial visits throughout the last few months, including trips to Ohio State and Alabama in April and Miami in March. He's also been to Oklahoma on multiple occasions as the Sooners are just up the road from Mustang.

There hasn't been a clear read on Osborne from sources inside the personnel industry, but the consensus seemed to lean toward Oklahoma or Alabama at the moment. There is some wariness that a school like Miami could make an overwhelming financial offer, but sources near the recruitment feel it will be tough to overcome the Sooners. We're still waiting on official visit dates for Osborne to see who will jockey for the last visit.

Has us liking him at safety with us running 3rd with the ability to sneak in I guess with dropping a big bag

I know Gaby said we liked him at safety initially, however, iirc D$ and Gaby both said that’s no longer the case so we’re recruiting him at cornerback since he doesn’t wanna play safety.

Yup he’s on the late show. We originally liked him at safety but as soon as he said he wanted to be a corner that’s what we started recruiting him as

I would have to think with Wright and Hall on board that this cat would be looking elsewhere. Michigan seems to have some momentum on the trail right now to try to help out the new coach, my totally uneducated guess would be them. I have yet to check with my 100% unimpeachable sauces on this one.

yea were not going to pay for all those cbs we already have 3 committed.

When told by Rivals reporter Parker Thune that he may be a five star soon:

“It don’t matter,” he laughed. “I don’t think stars matter; I’m not gonna lie. Because at the end of the day, I came out here with no stars. I just came out here to compete, and I showed who a dawg is, for real. I earned my stars, and I ain’t even need ’em. You gotta have the mentality just to play football. You gotta have that dawg mentality.”

visiting OU next weekend then Alabama and Ohio State the following two weekends — he couldn’t remember the order for those last two.

Reading into his comments, it seems like Alabama is in the lead and OU is second. The reporter didn’t ask him about Miami or Michigan because their OV dates aren’t set yet; OU reporter did make clear that neither team is by any means out of it.

Wiltfong said OSU is a frontrunner for him but i couldn’t really deduce if Wiltfong meant THE frontrunner or a frontrunner as he grouped him with two other dbs. I will note that he says he will be developed at all five schools so it comes down to trust and how strong the relationship with the people at the university is.

OU was the only school (outta 3) where he didn’t mention any specific coaches which stood out to me. Found it interesting he even framed his response like this when asked about OU:

Oklahoma: “Let me say this — I’m deciding where I want to go. So I don’t know if I want to stay home or [leave] yet. I’m deciding that with my mom. But I can say I would stay in town, because it is my hometown and I’ve got a lot of people out here. A lot of support. And I know OU can do great things for me in the future.”

He says he will take all of his OVs before making a decision. Said he will setup ones to Michigan and Miami.

My input: he will have to do both OVs in the same week as the end period begins after the June 19th weekend. So unless he does that, it is important to get that last weekend OV because he is deciding before his senior season.

Said he isn’t cutting off communication with coaches after he commits because he doesn’t know what will happen during the coaching carousel and other unforeseen factors etc.
