G5 Representative in the College Football Playoff is the equivalent to ___

It’s so ridiculous when you get these lawyers involved especially because they are an independent. If enough people say **** You to Notre Dame, eventually they will have to join a conference.

They are lucky that ACC allows them to be a member so that they can have their other sports participate. Otherwise, they would be forced to join a conference.

Not sure how this addresses G5 situation. They’re legally assured of at least one spot.

Ole Miss and Oregon are the winners here. They won’t have a long layoff like the top 4. However it will be a walkover. They get some live reps, game prep and the opportunity to not get rusty.

UCF and Cincinnati had a good run a few years ago but using them as “We must include a G5 team” is the college football equivalent of DEI.

Only a real solid, undefeated G5 team that has a solid resume should only be considered on that merit for the playoff.

P4 teams shouldn’t be losing a spot to a G5 unless they are some kind of special team that EARNS it on the field. Not just award a spot to include them.

When you stop and think about it for a minute, it’s just obvious.

P4 is playing a different sport compared to the G5’s especially vs before because they weren’t losing their best players.

Now they are just a minor league for the P4’s and it’s evolving at a different pace and level that is not sustainable for the G5s to compete in the current form.

However, because of the growth of the sport and money, this is an opportunity for the G5s to grow themselves with their own playoff because there is so much money out there. S

You can still do a play-in game with the top G5 of the year for a chance to get into the playoff by beating the lowest ranked P4 champion or At-Large bid team.

Josh Pate is now saying the same thing.
