Further Proof Kuligowski Sucked

Kul seemed pretty good at Miami.

But it is pretty depressing when an assistant who seems good here gets fired after 1 year at Alabama. It’s almost like being good by Miami standards= being bad by Alabama standards.
Quit trying to spin this as a bad look for Miami thing, coach kool was here at Miami for 2 years how can you even come up with that it’s “depressing and ifs almost like being good by Miami standards= being bad by Alabama standards” ?

Now where was this same bullsh*t rhetoric when bama got a former Miami coaches Jeff stoutland or joe Pannunzio who both were at bama after leaving Miami for a number of years and did very well.

the whole coach kool and bama pairing was off to begin with considering the philosophical difference in what coach kool teaches his dline to do and how saban likes to run his 3-4 defense. Saban also wasn’t fond of the run defense performance that season kool was there so of course he wanted a change

Coach Saben nose more about football than any of us dew. And according to Saben, Kul was an overrated POS.

Saban is the goat. But coaching staff’s at the highest position levels is allll about relationships relationships along with results..in 2018 that D allowed 3.6 YPC which is pretty **** good. Not quite elite but **** good. They gave up 0.7 tds a game on the ground which is elite. In the CFB I do remember Oklahoma getting lose on the ground and UGA having a productive game with Michel. Point is we don’t know why Kool was let go by saban. If it was in part mutual or he was just fired. But now he’s at Toledo as the assistant HC and co D coordinator. While at Miami his lines produced at a elite level with a few guys overachieving. So he was good in my book

Coach Kool is a great technical coach, mediocre at best recruiter. Then again, most great technical coaches are awful recruiters. Nick Saban once stated that you either have recruiters or teachers. The kind of person that is great at teaching will most likely struggle in the recruiting aspect, due to their personality types not being all that attractive. The sleazy, used car salesman types are usually weak teachers. Ed Orgeron is the one exception, he is a strong DL coach, and a driven recruiter. That said, there are few of those guys running around. There's a reason why most of these ace recruiter types coach positions that require little if any actual technical work. Trooper Taylor has coached receivers for **** near ever.

You need line coaches to be proficient in regards to technical work, because that is what the position is about. If you are taking guys that are at least decent, and coaching them up, you will see results. Yes, having a bunch of athletic freaks helps on the lines, but technique beats pure, uncoached athleticism regularly. Kool was a master of the technical side, I wouldn't mind having him back in Coral Gables, just team him with someone that is a strong recruiter. Just get talent to Kool, and let him coach them up.
