This game hints at all the reasons we witness a return to the past. The Canes -7 underdogs. The us against the world mentality. A program needing a game to catapult them into a new phase of winning. A national tv audience in The Prime time slot. Everything here points to a cosmic shift that one game can do for a program. Coupled with a chance to endear themselves to potential recruits. It all started with Miami getting no respect and then earning it.

For the Canes it starts on defense and correcting their most visible flaw which is allowing quarterbacks to run wild on their defense. And dbacks allowing teams to make big plays downfield. When Miami was Miami it always always was about defenses smothering the opposition and in the early years standing foot to foot with FSU who under Bobby Bowden were a juggernaught that we had to brake.
Is Miami a sleeping giant or weeping willow my guess and prediction is the return to greatness will start Saturday night and one day we will point to this game as the starting point.

Certainly appreciate your optimism 👍🏽

This is reminds me of the Shannon years. Two terrible teams somehow gets primetime because there isn't enough games of interest that week.

My brain says one thing.
My heart says another thing.

Apologies if I offended.
Nah I understand the rationale, it’s just the same people who mope in every thread with the most beta tone I’ve ever seen. As if we have no shot apparently and are playing some top-ten juggernaut.

This FSU team is nothing special at all. Y’all see what Wake really is, how bad NC St was without Leary and they still couldn’t scratch out a win. Mario isn’t the best game day coach, but Memphis Mike is always good for a bad decision or three as well. First drive will be key - Mike normally scripts up a good opening drive, but they’re very susceptible to offensive droughts lasting multiple series.

Will we have to do a lot of things right and find ways to create explosive plays? Yes, absolutely.

Their D-line is going to try and create havoc; need to use that against them. I expect some screens and quick hitters. Regardless if we get TVD back, this will be a dog fight…the boys will be fired up.

Can’t say the same for some fans.

This FSU team is nothing special at all. I absolutely agree with you. That being said, this FSU team didn't lose to MTSU. We did. MTSU is even less special than FSU, yet they beat the **** out of us. You don't need to be special to beat us. You need to show up and let us beat ourselves with horrific decisions.

The only thing I want to see this Saturday is a Miami team that looks well coached. That's it. If we look well coached, we win this game. If we don't, it'll get ugly. ****, FSU is so bad we can still win an ugly game. That being said, they are talented enough to smoke us if we don't come prepared. So, here's hoping this staff has the team ready, not a list of excuses.

Don't care what happens except that we leave it all on the field.
