This game hints at all the reasons we witness a return to the past. The Canes -7 underdogs. The us against the world mentality. A program needing a game to catapult them into a new phase of winning. A national tv audience in The Prime time slot. Everything here points to a cosmic shift that one game can do for a program. Coupled with a chance to endear themselves to potential recruits. It all started with Miami getting no respect and then earning it.
For the Canes it starts on defense and correcting their most visible flaw which is allowing quarterbacks to run wild on their defense. And dbacks allowing teams to make big plays downfield. When Miami was Miami it always always was about defenses smothering the opposition and in the early years standing foot to foot with FSU who under Bobby Bowden were a juggernaught that we had to brake.
Is Miami a sleeping giant or weeping willow my guess and prediction is the return to greatness will start Saturday night and one day we will point to this game as the starting point.
