Excellent stuff this is why you’re still allowed to post here despite your long list of transgressions
Part of the post originally was just to highlight how close this **** is sometimes to being totally different
There’s a pitchfork mentality to wholesale changes when things go wrong and it very very rarely works. Often it takes you further from the solution
As
@OrangeBowlMagic pointed out elsewhere (I said the same it’s why I remember it) we were 15-2 coming into the game. We can argue the details all we want but we aren’t a team that needs to erase the chalkboard
No one, not even OSU is immune this year. Their defense is elite elite but that offense has issues that can be exposed. I shouldn’t say that because people will get wrapped up in one comment but the parity this year is astonishing
I hate when you’re logical. It ***** up the whole balance of the board.
Last year, I was pantsless every week watching that offense. As an offensive connoisseur, it was orgasmic nirvana every week. But as thrilled as I was with the offense, I was equally as disgusted with the defense. VT was gross. Cal was ungodly awful. Louisville, holy **** are you kidding me? So I was optimistic, because I knew we had the legit best offense in America. So that gives you a chance every week. But I assumed at some point we’d have an off night and the defense was so bad, we’d lose. It happened.
I’m not there yet with this offense. I’m frustrated, because it’s worse than I hoped and expected it to be. But it’s not an abomination. Or at least, I’m not saying it is after one really bad game.
We scored 17 in a 2.5 quarters against ND. We prison raped USF. We had 20 in 2.5 quarters against the gator (Marty scored, fight me). We had 28 in three quarters against FSU. We’ve had plenty of moments where I thought this could be a complimentary football team. And we laid an egg against Louisville. But we all knew the defense last year was unfixable and we couldn’t make serious noise with it. I don’t feel the same way about this offense. We have to be better, but I’ve seen it be competent. Against good athletes. Ones better than we’ll see the rest of the way in the ACC.
For those saying the tape is out or we’ll struggle every week here on out or Dawson doesn’t do anything different, I don’t have time for your ****. You don’t know a ******* thing. None of us have a crystal ball. Also, if we don’t change anything and do the same thing every game, Dawson has been here for 2.5 seasons, now the tape is out and we’ll never score 20 points in a game? Again, feminine nonsense. We have work to do. We have to find out a way to get better in the run game, because we’re not as explosive as last year so we can’t live in 3rd and long. Beck isn’t going to pick up long first downs with his legs, and we’re not great at throwing the ball down the field.
But the penalties have to stop. The totally unnecessary ones. You can’t have a 3rd and 2 become a 3rd and 7 because you’re too stupid to learn the snap count. You can’t push someone after a play and make a 3rd and 5 a **** 3rd and 20.
But we’re 15-3 in our last 18 regular season games. How many teams are better than that? Five? Go kick the **** out of Stanford and get this thing going in the right direction again. This isn’t 1997, you’re allowed to have a bad game now. 11-1 Miami is 100000000% in the playoffs. 10-2 Miami might even be, there’s a lot of ball to play yet. But let’s get some swag back on offense and play with some confidence, we’re not ripping the playbook up because we turned the ball over 4 times once.
