I totally agree, the whole "don't turn a bad play into a disaster" thing can be overdone. If you have a QB with good instincts and game smarts he has to be trusted to go for 50/50 plays sometimes. I would like to see that more with a guy like Hightower who really seems to have a knack for making plays if he's healthy. That's a great assessment. I just watched the Enos presser and went over Romans post again and I think the picture is beginning to come into much sharper focus for me. It would seem that Williams didn't play nearly as well as it may have seemed. Jarren's reluctance to pull the trigger makes me wonder if maybe Diaz/Enos are overdoing the whole "Don't burn the house down." shtick. What we may have here is that Jarren is so concerned about throwing an interception that he's not letting himself play instinctively. When you have a QB that has the type of skills JW has you can't over do the fear based coaching. At some point you are going to make him feel that it's ok to let it rip.
That's why I'm excited for the rest of the season.****
You missed the biggest mistake Jarren Williams made in the game.
The best pocket Jarren had all game. Had about 7 seconds to get rid of the ball. Osborn is run a IN route against soft zone and Jarren took a sack with 34 seconds left in the game.

It's back. From the Perch. More Audio. Less Words. The Dan Enos era is upon us and it was the breath of fresh air to break down a new offense that essentially comes at you in waves. I will expand more in this thread and touch base to answer questions. Have a great night Canes Fans. You might want to put the audio up. (not too loud, it's late)
This was the update after the creation of YouTube and working with an OBB tech guy. Just wanted to attach it to this thread as well.
Couple of thoughts....
1. Jarren played exactly how Jarren was probably expected to play. Nothing more, nothing less. First major minutes of college foosball against a pretty good D (CIS community def got the skill level of their D wrong, they can play). I would say Jarren's play was typical of a first time playing QB
2. By about game 5 or 6 we'll know what we have with Jarren. I'm willing to bet we have someone that more resembles what we have been thirsting for than Kyle Wright 2.0
3. For those asking about adjustments....they were made. 1 adjustment was we couldn't get our offensive operation right, so we skipped all of the presnap movement. If you can't get in and out of the huddle efficiently then you don't have time to have all the movement.
4. Our backs stayed in a lot the time this game. count the times there were 5 people in the route when we dropped back
5. on the TEs blocking....why would you want to take our biggest weapon in the passing game out of the play by asking them to max protext blocking often? It's not something you want to make a habit of doing so you pick your spots there, which we did on long yardage downs. Also Mallory as a blocker isn't great (disappointing).
4. We might have found a left tackle. I know the majority think he was bad, but that's just casue they remember his two worst plays, that just happened to be sooooo noticeable. Outside of a few very, very, bad plays where he beaten off the snap he played well. This kid will be NICE by about game 6. I just hope he doesn't hit a freshman wall
5. I hope Cleve Reed or John Campbell steps up. I really like our interior OL as is. It can be a strength, but we need to get that right tackle spot ironed out. If Campbell can shake this off great, if Cleve and force his way into the OG picture, even better. 1 of those things need to happen for us to realize some of our potential this year. Say what you want about Campbell's pass blocking, but i thought it was his run blocking that was the biggest disappointment. That is supposed to be his strong suit and he was not very good for a lot of run plays
Big picture is we have the budding of something here. I don't know if it's special, but we have more pieces than anyone will give us credit for at this time. I think we'll know by game 5 what we truly have. If Zion and JW15 keep progressing and Campbell or Reed can step up we might have us something here just in time for our toughest stretch of the year. We should all be cautiously optimistic at this time.
