Freshman Friday Welcomes Lorenzo Lingard

Not sold. Hope I'm wrong.
Why becuase he struggled and underperformed in the spring? Give him time. I don't expect much from him until his So season anyway

Dallas and Homer will hold it down this yr.That Boy DJ Dallas is a Different breed. Garvin and Dj might be the 2 best players on this team.DJ can do it all. #Rare

Hey, I said my opinion. You have your opinion and I have mine.

Fair, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I guess I'm mostly curious on what makes you feel that way.

Lo is bigger, which size could play a role in making a back more durable. He also has top notch speed, which is definitely a notch above Duke. I can see how he has the potential to surpass or match Duke. If you put Duke and Lo in the same high school class, you don't choose between them because they are 2 different backs, you get them both and celebrate that your backfield will be elite for at least 3 years. If they were both incoming freshman I'd expect Lo to make some noise because he's a great north/south runner with sprinter speed...but I'd also expect Duke to make tons of plays out of nothing, because that's what he continually did in high school. Duke's highlight tape from high school is ridiculous, and I would not be able to put any back above him unless they matched what he did in addition to having a physical advantage over him.

Lol at not being sold on a 5 star true freshman, that's yet to play a game. You guys crack me up.

And I don't have an opinion 1 way or another regarding Duke/Lo comparisons but I don't think someone saying they think Lo is better constitutes Duke bashing.

Can't wait to see Lo break off his first big one. Our RB room is stacked.

Yea I’ll have to disagree on them being the best 2 players on the team

Duke bashing again smh

Duke under any other coach in America wins a heisman. No knock on Lingard but Duke was another breed of animal. He was also elite on both sides of the ball....that stiff arm and the vision were other worldly.
Hate when people do this. “No knock” and then disrespect said player. They are two different type of 5star running backs. Lingard has the size and speed of a potential elite back while duke has the quickness, elusiveness and vision of an elite back. Both are extremely talented

The new redshirting rule will definitely help Lo. Get him carries in the Toledo, Savannah State, and FIU games. Then if you need him later he’s aclimated to college ball. Or, he just explodes and you can’t take him off the field.

We are blessed at RB.

It was never a knock on Duke. To me it is just the explosiveness. That extra gear that Lingard has that very few backs have. I really liked Duke, so I don't say Lingard is the best back we've recruited since Gore lightly. He's a program changer.

Best 100m times from highschool-

Duke Johnson- 10.62
Lingard- 10.71

It amazes me people act like Lingard is some ultra elite speedster.. Lamar Miller ran 10.5 in highschool. The rb Shivers who went to Auburn ran 10.2.... 10.7 is fast, not elite..

Lorenzo had that as a junior at 195 pounds and didn’t run as a senior. If he did he would have run in the 10.5 range . Remember lingard normally runs the hurdle and the 100m is not his main event.

Duke Johnson was what 175 pounds when he ran that?.

Travis Homer
DJ Dallas
Lorenzo Lingard
Robert Burns
Cam Davis

This group is the most physically gifted depth chart of rbs I’ve ever seen on a roster at the same time and they all have their own style.

It's a lot more to Lo's game than just his speed that makes him elite! He being as fast as he is, is just part of the total package.

We have depth!! Lo and Cam with the returning players, big very big

Exactly, with Homer, Dallas, and Burns and now Lo and Cam - how blessed is Miami with this talented running back group. I still root for Duke but right now with the Canes, we don't have just LO but CAM as well.

Miami is recruiting top talent at all positions in CMR's third year, but look at these 5 running backs. They all are gifted and bigger and can bring it if they are given the chance. Plus there is a real FB in George leading the way and Gray being tried as well.

With the addition of the new OL's, and continued shaping of all of them by S&C, how much better can the ground attack become, and especially in the short yardage situations also.
