Franklin Fired at PSU

They aren't finding better than that...especially not with Matt Campbell or Matt Rhule or Al Golden.

MAYBE they could with Cignetti, but you should be happy with just a push there.

If there is one school that should be checking their couch cushions right now and getting their money lined up...it should be MARYLAND. All in, highest and best offer for Franklin. He'd have them in the upper half of the B1G quickly.

Everybody keeps saying Cignetti but I really think it’s a smaller chance than people think unless he just really wants to be back in his home state. People are vastly underestimating how much $$$ Indiana has, which is fair because their sports haven’t been great in some time. But IU actually has a massive alumni base and boat loads of money rolling in. Think it’d be hard to pry him away. Would be more of a lateral move than people think considering how good he has Indiana already.

He’s also already at $9m so going up 1.5m a year isn’t much given his winning. Also someone will have to give a 65 year old HC 10/$120m and I just don’t see it.

A lot of the Indiana folks I know say the same thing.

Cignetti is getting a big raise, for sure.

Yep. I think PSU’s best shot at him was when he was leaving JMU. Should’ve made the move on him then but that would’ve taken a lot of balls. Feel like that ship has sailed for PSU.
 
The funniest part in all of this that nobody is talking about. Kotelnicki turned down the WVU HC job so he could stay at PSU for the playoffs. Then they paid Knowles $3 million only for him to check out 4 games in bc he interviewed for the OK St job.

Evidently the AD is close with Rhule from Temple. There’s a ton of Rhule and PSU ties as well. Is a deal ironed out completely? Probably not. But there’s enough connections to get a sleazy backroom handshake deal done.

I just don’t see how you pull the plug on a guy who was one play away from an appearance in the title game 9 months ago without a contingency plan. Reads like, now’s our chance if we don’t fire him now he can win out and we’ll be stuck with him.

I personally think it’s pretty obvious that Kotelnicki is the person who made the adidas comment.

I doubt they hire Cig. Just not a smart move imo. IN seems willing to spend. He’s also having real success. Why leave? Rhule is their Mario. It almost makes too much sense.

He’s the guy that hired Manny for five minutes at Temple. I heard a CBS guy ( McFadden ) and a 247 guy mention three awful names . McFadden said Schiano lmao . The 247 guy said Manny since it’s the same AD and he’s very well thought of in Happy Valley. Either one of those guys are fired they’ll burn that dump down. Rhule the other one.

Franklin: Mario.. I’d keep running it up the middle here. We have the lead let’s be conservative.
