Franklin Fired at PSU

Saw something that CFB programs over the past several yrs have, collectively, spent $550m in dead $$ to buy out HCs.

I’m doing something incredibly wrong in my life; how can I be incompetent at what I’m paid to do & get chedda while on the job, but also get guac when I’m fired?

It is far-fetched, you think they’re paying $50 million to bring in a guy that really has no chance of winning a national championship. Maybe if they strike out on their main targets but I believe Penn State is going big here. You don’t pay $50 million just to go small.

Cignetti is Pitt guy and supposedly hates PSU.

Rhule and the PSU AD are best friends who vacation together at the jersey shore. We all know the weird bromances Penn St guys have.

The betting favorites right now are Rhulem Manny Diaz, and Matt Campbell. I don’t who would be the big hire if not Cignetti? Brian Kelly?

Manny is the son of a politician

words were never an issue with him in TrumpyCane's opinion
It was more the shrapnel those words delivered....

Honestly would anyone be surprised if PSU hired Rhule and Nebraska hired Franklin?

I think UCLA should go for Franklin tbh

An almost impossible term to enforce. The offset is what matters. And presuming that’s in his contract, then PSU is going to end up paying very little, relatively speaking, because Franklin will be coaching next year.
Will he though?

That's good money to sit on the sofa.

He's a very good recruiter & talent evaluator, but that's really about it.

With him, his success will always be contingent on his coordinator hires.
100%. He's a terrible gameday coach, always has been.....can't/doesn't step in to fix things going sideways in big games.

He was on a very hot seat this year with how much money they put into this roster and the money spent to bring in Jim Knowles. For whatever reason, Knowles defense has regressed and Kotelnicki just doesn't mesh well with Allar. Pribula was a better fit for his offense. The money spent on those coordinators plus the roster couldn't have resulted in losses to UCLA and NW without something drastic happening.

Ironically hiring Diaz is what most likely lead to his downfall. PSU’s 247 had an article on Thursday saying their biggest issue this year has been LB debt due LB recruiting from 22-24….

Diaz is the biggest reason Penn State team had zero linebackers to stop UCLA and Nico with Tony Rojas injured. That guy couldn't recruit to save his life. Their other starting backer was a former walk-on.
