They are in a tough spot fiscally. The athletics department has a revenue of $120m per year. They can pay for a HC and assistants but they have to get hire right.
 
Difficult to compare double digit wins for Pedo State prior to and under Franklin.

The move to a 12 game season in 2006, the additional opportunity of a Big 10 CG and now multiple playoff games.

PSU also had a Bowden problem the last several years with Paterno. He was past his prime, but you can’t fire a legend.

Paterno also used a scheme where he used redshirts to (attempt) to build a winner every 3rd year instead of trying to win it all, every year.

So I’d compare Franklin’s winning % with Paterno’s and success against Top 10 teams.

This is not a fluff for Paterno, I couldn’t stand the guy, but attempting a fair comparison.

Why did they fire this guy again? Maybe I've seen too much of the Norvell grief process, but looking at this guys record... the next guy better be really ******* good.

I would be more worried if they hired Fran, but honestly, sad to say, I don't believe UF will hire a black HC. I have to see it first.

I guess the old time Penn State people and Jay Paterno still have their hands in the program if this true and Rhule is a leading candidate....

In Years 1 and 2, Rhule went 3-6 in the B1G

They're 5-1 this season with wins over Cincinnati, Akron, Houston Christian, Michigan State and Maryland and a home loss to Michigan.

Are we sure they've turned the corner?
