We don’t deserve that family
So 20% less? You compared him to Shaq, a multiple All Acc LB. I said he’s better. You proved it. Shaw also played cleanup behind a DL that never saw a gap they didn’t shoot.
He made plenty of plays out on the edges. He also had barely any protection from his interior.
Where exactly are you getting the data that he’s significantly worse than other college LBs? Because that’s why guys like Trotter fall, because they all suck in coverage. Has way more to do with modern offenses putting the MLB In conflict than it does with his drops.
Here’s some pretty good film to counter your “sideline to sideline” BS
That’s the best part of his game and it’s what allows him to make tackles despite not being the quickest guy.Diagnosing plays is the most essential trait to play LB. I'm glad we're finally getting guys like that after years (mostly under Manny) of trying to convert DEs to LB.
Francisco M. is literally the first guy we've had with strong diagnosing skills since Shaq and Pinckney.
The fact that linebackers were essentially parking cones in zone defense was probably the worst thing about that defense. Safeties had to do so much extra work because our linebacker coach (Manny) didn’t know how to use linebackers. That scheme is a nightmare for line backers
exactlyShaq was a 4th round pick. He was good enough of a backer to win 10+ with.
Agreed. He’s a two down NFL linebacker. Depending on the scheme I could see him being an eventual starter. He’s productive and does some things really well. Mid round pick mostly because ILB isn’t a priority position any more.I thought he was extremely competent. What do you guys think of his NFL prospects? I don't see an NFL starter but IMO, he's more than capable of carving out a backup role and a decent multiyear NFL career. Thoughts?
Without looking, I'd say Kiko is 20 lbs lighter, but I like the overall comp.Noah Sewell 2.0

Him and his brother lmao
Last part. The 2 year makeover of the LB position should really shine through this season. So much improved athleticism and overall talent will supplement this d line amazingly.Kiko is an old school Cane LB. He's the main reason I feel like our run game will be stout even without a true nose guard out there. He has the strength to clean up all the slop in the trenches, yet the perspicacity to read QB optioning and agility to either defend a cross, penetrate the protection or kick outside as needed.
With Alderman, Wes, Popo, Pruitt, Washington available, we're going to see lights out LB play.
Kiko didn’t look comfortable in coverage but I’m curious to see what Guidry does with a full tool box. Felt like he was just constantly trying to work around the holes in the defense. Depth and injuries were killing us, where the offense was actually very durable.Last part. The 2 year makeover of the LB position should really shine through this season.
