The other thing that is not being discussed is Miami's down slide in the NCAA APR every year since he has been here. Graduating kids has always been a HUGE component for the UM administration an now Miami is middle of the ACC pack with a 967 APR score, down from 990 when he first arrived at Miami. Combined with his lack of performance on the field and That is why Blake James is talking real tough about AL Golden being a dog that won't hunt.

Hopefully he can get it together because I just can't root for Miami to have a bad or just average year.

Go Canes

The admins won't look kindly on this APR slide. Probably means more to them than wins or loses. THIS may get Al fired. Playing bad football doesn't matter to these folks, but these graduation rates will get Golden canned for sure. This IS "the Harvard of the South" after all.

This is why Al Golden has keep players like Hunter Wells, Jelani Hamilton, Earl Moore, and Corey King around they have are all set to graduate this year or have graduated. If they had left before graduating than Miami's APR would have been near the 930 APR Score penalty threshold and that responsibility would fall 110% totally on Al Golden. You see Corey King was ushered to the door once he graduated.

Go Canes

APR is not the same as graduation rate. A player who leaves the program in good academic standing does not hurt your APR.

If you're still a fan of this team after the last decade, nobody can call you bandwagon.

Being a fan right now of Miami is ******* miserable.

Ridler ain't neva lied

The schedule is pathetically easy this year...we desperately need one more bad season to seal that piece of ****'s fate.

That is incorrect here is an article providing a simplification of the APR Calculation Methodology. Yes the APR is adjusted to compensate for student athletes who leave in good academic standing. By the APR standards a student that leaves while still in good academic standing receives one point out of two which distinguishes them from someone that left because of academic failure who would receive zero points.

The guy was talking about miami like we are some joke because we really are one.

He said we don't have a chance to compete with Duke 😂we are a god **** joke right now and people are finally realizing Golden's nothing but a donut eating excuse maker who's ran out of excuses.

Was that the same guy who admitted voting South Carolina #4 in the polls last year? He could be the Al Golden of reporters for all we know.

Virtual rep for justly implicating the BOT.

Big O last week and now this. Golden is about to embark on one of the worst years possible for a coach from an emotional beat down standpoint. He is going to get flayed every single week. It is too bad it took so long for everyone to open their **** eyes. Way too many College careers have been wasted, and that is something the AD and the BOT should feel down right guilty about for allowing to happen due to their lethargy and reluctance to address a problem that has been as clear as day for several years.

So ******* true... Anyone on this board deserves a pat on the back.... Or a straight jacket.

If you're rooting for wins at this point then no offense but you're an idiot.

If you're talking about hiring Mario Cristobal or Chud or any other unqualified coach for the simple fact that he once was a student, coached, played or simply stepped foot in the city of Miami then you're an idiot and are more of a detriment to this program than you realize.

half the south florida media is quietly pushing mario so they rip butch apart. Mario is a joke. he didnt do nothing at florida international. he might be an ol coach under a great hc but he is not ready. Butch davis is the answer. ray charles can see that

Yep. I have no problems with Butch, it would be a solid hire. But I think we should explore options, Butch will be there regardless as it doesn't look like he wants any other job. There are some intriguing names out there that could potentially do great at Miami that we should explore and they're not named Mario, Chud or Schiano. When the time comes I just want a real search for the best coach possible.

I hope we win 9 games because that's a great season at UM and that would mean Coach Golden got the job done and should keep his job.

Lulz.

Occasionally it crosses my mind of how enthused I would be if we came into this season with a Butch Davis lead squad with a coaching staff full of guys who know what they are doing, a good young QB, an attacking 4-3 defense, a shot at a great 2016 recruiting class, etc.

The fact that that was all there for the having; the fact that the planets aligned, as they so rarely do, into a situation where it was all easily attainable.

Then I realize that the school did nothing: that they don't care about football, that 8-4 with a shot at the division will be considered a 'success'. That the 2016 class will fall to pieces just like the last few. That as long as Golden can attain some degree of 'improvement', he'll remain at the school, and we will remain mediocre. That so many are happy with the status quo, as long as their tailgating and little weekend traditions and social clubs can continue unimpeded. That nobody really gives a ****.
