The Hurricanes have locked in their remaining wideout target with four-star Eli Woodard who made his long-awaited commitment this afternoon.



A former USC pledge who decommitted in May, Miami surged up his recruitment with both an unofficial visit to his high school in California as well as an official visit last month

The 6-foot, 190-pound wide receiver brings ability both inside and outside — having the speed to burn defenders deep as well as the agility to make cuts in the slot.

“They see me playing slot and outside, being very versatile in their offense,” Woodard said during his OV in May.

This past season Woodard racked up 51 catches for 1078 yards, totaling 17 touchdowns and 21.1 YPC.



Miami beat out in-state sides in Cal and UCLA who were seen as legitimate contenders in this recruitment, especially as Woodard’s Chaparral quarterback Dane Weber committed to the Golden Bears recently.

“What stood out to me was really the people and the culture around here, the players, everything — I loved everything about [Miami] ,” Woodard said.

The Temecula native becomes Miami’s second cross-country Cane this cycle, teaming up with good friend Donte Wright.



Woodard’s playmaking ability was on full display at Nike’s The Opening, where the Chaparral product was named one of the top performers of the event industry wide, with some having him as the MVP.

He shined against some of the country’s best defensive backs with deadly cuts, safe hands and instincts to understand soft spots in coverage.



The four-star wideout joins local five-star Nick Lennear as the Hurricanes haul at the position this cycle, driving Miami up to 20 commitments so far.

In many ways Woodard is considered the “finishing piece” when it comes to Miami’s 2027 class this summer — but it does not mean the class is wrapped up. The Canes will continue to monitor risers during their senior year and remain in the fight for flip targets such as five-star DJ Jacobs.

 

So is he 180, 185, or 190?

A second story that I wanna share will tell you all you need to know about Eli while he was visiting Cal with Dane Weber they were bored during a picture shoot with all of the top recruits Cal had in for their big day. Eli asked the wide receiver coach, if he could go down on the field with Dane so that they could throw and run routes instead of sitting around taking pictures. Next thing you know Eli‘s on the jugs machine and the other four or five wide receivers that cal was recruiting and came down to join them.
This dude is not overly boisterous, but he’s an alpha that works his *** off and loves football. He is a Mario type of football player through and through and I think he’s gonna be a good one.

Great athlete with a great work ethic means we are likely to see Eli making plays for us soon. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I can understate how big of a pickup this is. Bookmark this post, he may go down as a top 5-7 route technician we've ever had in school history. His routes are CRISP as a senior in high school. He is going to absolutely tear up defenses with Nick, Mali, and the other guys we have in the building.

Awesome find man, this type of stuff is AMAZING.. Mentioned it in my post when I looked at what was posted, his highlight film was all go routes and made him seem like one trick pony but you watch his camp stuff and he was routing dudes up and you could tell he put work in, you dont get those releases and such just by chance.. You could tell dude was a grinder..

Now this makes sense and speaks to what I talk about in regards to all training in actually any field, these kids got more access today to anything they want, they can pull up training for dam near anybody they want to emulate, DM private trainer questions and such, its insane.. It makes sense why these kids be running college track times while a sophmore in high school, they can pull up a runner workout with ease and copy. Dope..

 

Huge get right here and based on what was put on display at the opening, that’s a five star player I don’t care what anyone says. Elite this past weekend!

That would wonderful for us in 40’s, 50’s and up. We were denied it by our coaches leaving for greener pastures. We would have a couple Bama runs had at least 2 of the coaches stayed. WE DESERVE IT, but we gotta EARN IT.

5-11 3/4 189. He’s a **** hair from 6 ft and will end up playing in the 190s and being the star he is. I love Lennear but this will end up being just as elite. If he’s not a 5 star idk what is. Kid was embarrassing major highly ranked corners.
