Former 5-star QB Blake Barnett transferring from Bama

Former Giants LB (?) on ESPN says he and Keyshawn Johnson saw Blake in a Cali 7 0n 7 and both came to the conclusion he was not a fit for the physical style of football in the south. Said the Cali QB's are primadonnas who parents send them to so called QB guru's and have been entitled all their football lives. Wants everything given to them, no willing to compete.

This has been quietly talked about in the media. Kiper was talking about this recently how you're finding fewer and fewer cali QBs playing for super competitive teams in the south because they just don't measure up. Don't know what it is, but I think there's some truth to it.

LOL at him coming here. The next place he goes will have to guarantee him the job. Texas A&M or one of the ****** CA schools will. E where he goes.

Pretty much. Maybe he'll go to Oregon. They have a thing with picking up transfers to play QB lately it seems.

Rapidly sinking ship. I doubt he'd go there.

True. Maybe Cal or some middling program like that. Oregon hasn't met their annual quota on Big Sky QBs this year anyway.

From my time living in CA, it always seemed like the best QBs in the state came from the Bay Area, with a few exceptions down in SoCal. Dunno why, but it always seemed that way.

Kaaya also? Lmao, he's earned everything with this team.

He was 6-6 as a freshman with 7 NFL ready players on the roster. Highly debatable that he was the one who deserved to be the QB. Many think he was given the job by Golden so that he could buy himself another year and continue to rob this program of more money.

By many you mean you, and you only. Literally no one has ever expressed the ridiculous conspiracy theory.

California often gets lumped in with states like Florida, Texas, etc when people talk about where the best high school football is played but I think that's a misconception just based on the overall size of that state and for the surrounding west coast states not having a ton of talent. Obviously they have their historic power programs but there are at least a handful of other states where higher quality overall football is played and that definitely produce more D-1 players per capita.

The QB situation is probably a different topic though and it has nothing to do with this myth about the higher caliber of play in the SEC. Culture shock, poor QB development by a lot of current SEC coaches, etc. are bigger factors than some myth about a Cali kid not being able to take a hit in the mightiest conference in all the land.

The players on the team believed this was the case. They didn't think kaaya should've started his freshman year.

Source? Link? Who should have started? The former 5-star QB transferring to his third team (forget his name)?

This may be the dumbest conspiracy theory yet posted.

Jake Heaps. While I'm sure Heaps would have been a sufficient fill in until Kaaya's sophomore year, strategically it made little sense for the program. He likely wouldn't have been that much of an upgrade over Kaaya, didn't have any more of a knowledge of the playbook than Kaaya, and would have only served as a stop-gap player. It was smarter to throw Kaaya into the fire and let him develop and create chemistry with the rest of the offense.

Do you honestly think Heaps would have done better? If Jake couldn't separate himself from a true freshman then it would make sense to go with Kaaya.

This isn't exactly breaking news. There was plenty of mention made of it after Folden was fired by the likes of Manny and the PBP guy. You can google if you want, I have no burning desire to prove a point to you.

Why the **** are all you retards talking about Jake Heaps, do you guys follow this program? Ryan Williams was the senior leader of the team and was taken out by Al Golden. We had a 6-6 record that year. All because we needed to get Kaaya the experience to lose to FSU 3 years in a row.

I'm just a guy who follows UM football. I made no claim other than the fact that it didn't make much sense to start Heaps at all. The fact that someone actually thinks this was some conspiracy by Golden to hold on for another year is just laughable. If there was anything that gave Golden another year it was that is buyout was pretty expensive at the time.
