Former 5-star QB Blake Barnett transferring from Bama

The only reason he was listed as the starter in the 1st game is because they knew he would transfer is he didn't win the job. They were hoping he'd finish out the year if he was benched.

Kind of sucks for the kid because he still has to sit out a year. Probably should have seen the writing on the wall though.

Jacoby Brissett transferred from Florida after getting beat out by Jeff Driskel, who then transferred himself after losing the starting job to Treon Harris. 2 out of those 3 are collecting NFL paychecks.

It's the nature of cfb, especially for QBs. The days of having Kelly, Kosar and Testaverde on the same team are over. The top rated guys aren't waiting around 3 years to start.

Imo, something more is going on. I mean, what's the benefits of doing all this now after only three games. It's not like he plays a position that is 4 or 5 deep. He is the backup QB. All it takes is Hurts to have a few ****** drives, or an injury and he has a chance to prove himself.

The kid has to do what is best for himself, I hope everybody that leaves the Bama program has success. Saban and Kiffin, based on everything I've ever heard about them, are horrible human beings.

If the ultimate lover of a-holes (Al Davis) doesn't like you, then you gotta be a shady individual

The "Why do kids go to Alabama?" discourse in this forum always cracks me up to be honest.
That being said -- with Perry, we definitely don't need this guy. His arm is legit though from what I remember in high school highlights. m

Exactly thats the dumbest fkin question on here obe of the dumbest. Why did everyone want to play for miami in the 80's 90's and early 2000's? Uhhh because we won and the competition was violent as ***

To be fair, we do hear that A LOT kids are ONLY concerned about getting to "the league". I never bought that completely but if you're a big time QB recruit it would be questionable why you'd go to Bama or most SEC schools.

He thought he was the man, they sold him, and Bama with Coker showed they could have a mostly drop back passer with success. They always run the ball well, so a passing QB should be successful there if they plan that way.

Agree completely with DW. We weren't clean back then either with regards to $$$$ and the players parking lot exemplified that

That's all makes sense but at the end of the day this is seriously almost like the last QB Bama put in the NFL that did anything.

Yeah, seems odd that he wouldn't wait until the end of the year.

Wouldn't surprise me if he felt like he got played into sticking around. So, now he's going to fck them back by leaving during the season.

That just proves he's leaving to try to stick it to them, IMO.

Apparently he can be eligible to play at another school one year from his transfer from Bama if he goes JuCo.

He can still register for school this late into the semester?

Yeah, that's what Greg McElroy was saying. He's going JUCO to finish the year, then enrolling someplace next season. McElroy thought he could be eligible by the 4th game next year.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Saban will "talk" to him and he'll change his mind.
