Former 5-star QB Blake Barnett transferring from Bama

Got beat out by a true freshman. Probably wouldn't see the field other than garbage time or if Hurts got injured. Not surprised.

Dont think he got a fair shake... he started the 1st game of the year..played good, then they rotated Hurts in and he hasnt been rotated out since..just think they probably lies to him..thats why he is gone... and if he did get beat out why not start Hurts 1st game??? It aint like Barnett lost the job or played bad.. Something fishy

Miami isn't a good place for him, we've got a few guys with "future starter" written on them. I would think that if you're going to sit out s year, you want to be **** sure you'll start after that.

He looked like a deer in the headlights in the first game. He didn't respond. Hurts did.

5/6 for 100 yards and a TD, and thats a deer in headlights compared to 6/11 for 110 yards 2 tds n a INT?? Only thing separated them was Hurts running ability..rushed for 2 tds later in the blowout

Question, from 2000-2004 , did we have guys transferring out a lot?
Cause we were as stacked as possible but it seems like guys either waited their turn or we were killin teams and everyone was getting PT anyway.

Who would want to transfer out of Miami back then? Nightlife was a circus, everywhere, and the NCAA hadn't invented camera phones yet.

Former 5-star QB Blake Barnett will attempt to transfer from Bama
Lol...

As long as he doesn't want to go to UGA, Miami or TAMU, Nick will let him go.

Saban will let him transfer to miami. He told smith he could come to miami but he wanted to go to uga.

So he left Bama where he was sitting behind true freshman, Jalen Hurts, but he'll go to Georgia to sit behind true freshman, Jacob Eason???

i dont want any qb that signed to Bama. Why? They dont produce nfl qbs what are you going there for to hand off..and not even throw nfl routes or anything. Aint like Kiffin has the eye for nfl either. Gotta question any qb heading their brain wise.

I watched the game. Don't quote me stats. He was freezing up in the 1st quarter in the face of the pass rush. That's why he got yanked.

He put up some decent stats late in the game after it was out of hand and there was no more pressure.

Eason will sit behind Jake Fromm next year. Kid is the goods.

Wait, did y'all think I wanted this kid here??? Nooooo....

I didn't post this thinking he's coming to Miami or hoping he would...

I simply posted it because I thought it was hilarious that another 5-star kid was leaving Bama.

We're more than good with Perry, Allison & Sitkowski in 2018... QB will never be an issue in the Richt era.

1999 recruiting class had a a lot of non-qualifiers/transfers/scrubs. Though, it also had 8 future NFL players (1 never played here. Julian Battle never qualified and ended up starting at Tennessee). Class of 2000 had only 2 kids transfer out in Willie Dixon and I think David Williams. 2002 had Marc Gullion, Akeem Jolla, Travarous Bain. We had highly recruited kids like Darnell Jenkins and Glenn Sharpe that entered in 2002 and stayed for 6 years. I don't remember anyone from the 2003 class transferring out. We had another 6 year player in Glenn Cook. The class of 2004 was a disaster and had a bunch of highly recruited kids that transferred out.

Let's not kid ourselves as to why someone might go to 'Bama.

Alabama has 4 national championships and 17 1st round draft picks since 2009. In that span, we've had 0 titles and two 1st round draft picks.

Are there handout$? No doubt; it's the SEC. Is Tuscaloosa a s#!thole? Sure, especially when compared to the variety of opportunity and entertainment of a big metropolis like Miami.

But wanting to play for an exceptional coach who wins titles and has a record of producing NFL talent, not to mention the draw of being the only show in town, is something that would understandably be of interest to many prospects.

Would I? **** no. I bleed orange and green. I'd line up for the 'Canes no matter the state of the program. And Saban seems like a miserable coach to play for, despite being among the best - if not the best - college coaches in the country. But preferences are subjective, and it is not unreasonable for talent to flock to good teams.

We've had 3 first rounders since then.. hmph..

He started the first game because Saban wanted to give him the illusion that he would start/play so he wouldn't transfer. They probably had an honest competition in the Spring, but Kiffin decided on Hurts and in order to keep both QBs on campus for the season rotated them in the first game. So he probably got a fair shake, but got played in the end.

The "Why do kids go to Alabama?" discourse in this forum always cracks me up to be honest.
That being said -- with Perry, we definitely don't need this guy. His arm is legit though from what I remember in high school highlights. m

Exactly thats the dumbest fkin question on here obe of the dumbest. Why did everyone want to play for miami in the 80's 90's and early 2000's? Uhhh because we won and the competition was violent as ***

That OL is sick and then the run game is lethal. Play action pass makes qbs look like mo sters like dorsey did with us they doing the same **** we did. U got recievers that dont need the running game to get open like ridley.....u add a run game and prayers sent. I understand y stud wrs go there....juedy will beast there n get the rock

Thanks.
I couldn't remember anyone major transferring out, which is just incredible considering how many studs we had.
The key is not to have a workhorse at the positions. Thats one of the biggest differences between us and Bama. When we had all those RBs they were all getting PT. At Bama they have a lot of talent, but only one plays per year basically. (*Note, I went to one of Najee Harris' games who is #1RB in nation, and dudes a ******* beast. He was held in check most of 1st quarter and still totaled like 300 yards, 3 or 4tds, and had a 75 yarder called back for holding. Kids a freak and will be a beast at Bama. They better not get MacFarland also. )
