For those of you that lived through the glory years...

The common denominator is money, something we don’t have. I got to see Miami at it’s best at one time, I lived through those early 2000’s. It’s just memories now fellas.

I blame James for the extension, but I don't blame him for signing Rick. I honestly, truly thought that Rick would be all **** and vinegar after getting fired by UGA and this would be his revenge tour on the SEC. I think most fans did. But he fooled me. He built a mostly terrible staff and the team looks unprepared every week. Shame on me for ignoring 15 years of evidence.

This doesn't make any sense. Richt was an HC for 15 years at UGA. That is a very large sample. Do you think someone can just be mad and suddenly raise/improve their coaching abilities? How many HC at P5 schools can suddenly raise their ceiling after such a long sample?

The only example someone suggested was Mack Brown. But even then, UNC is inferior to Texas.

Please note I never wanted Richt.

Came to this great country and great state in august 2001 .....just in time to see the greatest team of all time. Very grateful

Saw my first game as an undergrad in the 70’s in the OB against Bama. Saw the first Natty too. Peak experience. Best athletic event I’ve ever seen. I love UM enough to allow my son to attend there now.( I feel bad for him because he’s in the band and the next two home games are going to be ugly with an empty stadium, people booing, and planes with banners flying around). Personally I think the program had its heart and soul ripped out with the razzing of the OB and being jobbed of a Natty on an absurd call. Program hasn’t been the same since. The college football landscape has changed too. It’s difficult for a small private university (that isn’t ND) to compete in an arms race against state schools. And I don’t want UM selling it’s soul to win at football. I wouldn’t wipe my *** with a degree from Penn State after what happened at that place. My degree, and my sons’ future degree(s) aren’t worth that. Miami has won with visionary coaches who were innovative and maximized talent. With the possible exception of coach Coker who was in the right place at the right time, having been left, arguably, one of the GOAT teams ever assembled by a guy who’s name escapes me. From all accounts, CMR is a great guy. He’s a guy you’d want your kid to play for. He’s got a DC that has shown flashes, getting Miami to look like a Miami D should look. But CMR has got to take a long look in the mirror about this offensive coordinator stuff and make a choice.

The game has changed, recruiting has changed. Our fans live in the past, our university lives in the past. Nobody is looking to the future and trying to stay ahead of the trends. We have been passed by and fallen way behind with what it takes to put a championship caliber product on the field.

The ole mom and pop bullchit excuse.

Agreed. Money is not the issue. Richt makes $4 million per year. When Dugans seriously thought of leaving, Miami increased his salary. After 3 bad hires, Richt was the safe pick. Problem is he clearly does not have anything left in the tank and that has been the case since 2013.

If we had it, we’d spend it.

Are you actually reading what you're porsting?

1. Just because you have money doesn't mean you spend money. Have you heard of the term cheap?

2. Do you think buyouts are cheap? At Miami, we prefer to spend/waste money. We have it, but when it comes to athletics we prefer to waste it. Coker, Shannon and Golden were all fired and bought out. Are those free?

3. Please provide your numbers and how you know "The common denominator is money, something we don’t have."

Let's all back away from the ledge for a moment. Last year we were ranked as high as #2 in the country. While entirely undeserved as the ending of the season proved, it shows that with awful QB play and (then) mediocre coaching, we could quickly rise through the ranks. So all this talk of the program being "dead" is just that: talk. Our stadium situation was an absolute disaster before the renovations at The Rock. It was a joke of a stadium and now it's a palace. The IPF is nearly complete. The probation is over. And for those of us old enough to remember, the previous time we were on probation, the same B.S. was whispered, pre-Internet. Is Miami done? I watched us get smacked around to the tune of 66-13 to Syracuse. Syracuse! And then what happened? We rose up and dominated under a good coach and QB.

We need a coach and a QB. Let's not make it out to be anything more than that. Is the OLine great? **** no. But a coach and a QB would turn this program around. We have one of the bottom five QBs starting for us, we're set up to fail. That's on Richt and that's on the QBs themselves, other than Jarren who was never given a chance.

Dude, I thought the same way, too since Butch wasn’t signed.
But those glory years.. man late 80’s early 90’s teams feared Miami, they knew we were coming to talk **** and back it up and embarrass your ***. Now, we’re embarrassed with our 6 or should I say 7plays with the fullback dive..... since 2003 the downfall continues...sad.

So you are saying Miami’s drop into the abyss coincided with you watching.

Maybe stop watching, for the good of the rest of us?

Just kidding......sort of.

Wasn’t able to witness the glory years in the 80’s (born in 92) but I was able to watch some good football from (2000-2004) unfortunately it’s been a ****show since. If Miami is gonna get stuck with Richt then he needs to start by hiring an OC, firing Searles, Patke, his son, Rumph, Banda, and move Hartley to TE and recruiting only.

im 22 years old.

I started watching back in 03 when my pops took me to the Miami vs Tennesee game, ST muffed the punt and we lost.

All I have is stories of how great we used to be. I've never watched us win a single meaningful football game. Notre Dame Last year is probably the most significant game Ive ever seen us win, and that ended up not meaning jack ****.

Feelsbadman.

If we had it, we’d spend it.

lmfao so clueless.

They dont WANT to be the old Miami. In the BOTs world of delusion, we are the next Duke.

Of course two billion-dollar campaigns and over a decade later and the school is no more prestigious than it was in the 90s, but now the cache of the football program is gone.
