Camden, NJ. Cracks the top 10 in professional athletes produced in a city 3 square miles big!
I'm surpised to see Detroit's in the top 5 for football.

Always interesting in these things to see the metrics used. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale are split up in this one. Then they have "Atlanta." City limits are one thing, but "metro Atlanta " has LOTS of counties. I know it's supposed to be per 10k people, but still. . .I'm surpised to see Detroit's in the top 5 for football.
Well the rankings are per capita so size doesn't really matterView attachment 233001

U betta say itSouth Carolina has produced a bunch of really good athletes.
They may not have the sheer volume as regions like South FL, Houston, Southern Cali, ATL etc...
But in terms of just pure quality of players, they stack up with any region.
Some of the best players in the league are from South Car.
Understood. The point standsWell the rankings are per capita so size doesn't really matter
New Orleans is under-represented because of Katrina. A ton of families got displaced and never came back, usually because they had no insurance and nothing to come back to. End result, 18 years later, is you've got a bunch of families/dudes scattered all over the country who really would otherwise be in New Orleans.
Louisiana ia a great football state, regardless.New Orleans is under-represented because of Katrina. I have a couple of friends there. It’s right outside Charlotte so it’s not like it’s some unknown little place.![]()
'Football City': Nearly 2 dozen NFL players have come from one small South Carolina town
Rock Hill's reputation spurs big dreams for its high school football stars hoping to one day make it to the NFL.abcnews.go.com

Other places?

Yeap Alabama and Atlanta areas also increased from Katrina. I was surprised to see my hometown of Birmingham on there with not one MLB player. Birmingham is a big baseball playing townWell, I wouldn't say "scattered all over the country." In fact about 1/3 of the Katrina migration was to Houston alone. A majority of the rest didn't get too far, either. The rest of LA, MISS, TX, ARK, etc. There has also been significant migration back into Nola in the last 15 years or so. People who were formally displaced by the storm returning, but also a net plus of thousands of new residents annually iirc.
But I get your point, there are some legit players who come from the city.
Yeah, I've been in that area quite a bit. I'm always fascinated by the little pockets throughout the US with extraordinary amounts of talent. I think the Muck in its heyday was possibly one of the best.I have a couple of friends there. It’s right outside Charlotte so it’s not like it’s some unknown little place.
