"Football City"

South Carolina has produced a bunch of really good athletes.

They may not have the sheer volume as regions like South FL, Houston, Southern Cali, ATL etc...
But in terms of just pure quality of players, they stack up with any region.

Some of the best players in the league are from South Car.
U betta say it

New Orleans is under-represented because of Katrina. A ton of families got displaced and never came back, usually because they had no insurance and nothing to come back to. End result, 18 years later, is you've got a bunch of families/dudes scattered all over the country who really would otherwise be in New Orleans.

Well, I wouldn't say "scattered all over the country." In fact about 1/3 of the Katrina migration was to Houston alone. A majority of the rest didn't get too far, either. The rest of LA, MISS, TX, ARK, etc. There has also been significant migration back into Nola in the last 15 years or so. People who were formally displaced by the storm returning, but also a net plus of thousands of new residents annually iirc.

But I get your point, there are some legit players who come from the city.

Gaffney - Byrnes is a great rivalry. Many good players from Dillon and Marlboro County as well.

Rock Hill definitely produces. Attended junior college with a kid from Rock hill that signed with IU (ended up clashing with Bob Knight), went to Auburn with a running back from there, and was friends with a guy that played football at GT and played in thr NFL. This was all in the mid 90's. I thought it was interesting that I met those Rock Hill connections all in a span of 3-4 years. I had literally never heard of the place before then.

Yeap Alabama and Atlanta areas also increased from Katrina. I was surprised to see my hometown of Birmingham on there with not one MLB player. Birmingham is a big baseball playing town

I live in Rock Hill for 30 yr, our little town produces some of the toughest kids. We had 1st rd draft picks and many other picks in my 30 yrs

I have a couple of friends there. It’s right outside Charlotte so it’s not like it’s some unknown little place.
Yeah, I've been in that area quite a bit. I'm always fascinated by the little pockets throughout the US with extraordinary amounts of talent. I think the Muck in its heyday was possibly one of the best.
