Florida High School football is the culprit

Lol Im in Broward an right by the turnpike....

I understand saying 3 years....but 5-6 boy Drew ya going overboard.....we got the portal and majority of the kids playing now are young ugys anyway so i dont see how this supposed bad C U L T U R E has seeped into them. We locked in to Manny for 10 years but ****...with competent coaching we should be winning the coastal this year... I just wanna win the coastal brah ...thats all i ask
 
It seems people are picking sides and joining tribes on this, but isn't it possible that there is truth in all of it?
Most of my wrath on here lately has been directed toward coaches because 1) I think we wasted our entire offseason installing and practicing a horrible antiquated offensive system and have a bad offensive coordinator, and 2) the past two years of results ('20 & '21) as unsatisfying as they were, don't suggest we have the personnel problems that excuse the depth of awfulness we've seen so far this year. We won 5 of our last 6 and the team did seem to care and play hard.

That said, some of the arguments here about FL players and culture have persuaded me that there might be something to it, at least to the extent that it makes it difficult to get consistent, motivated and focused effort from players unless you've been around them long enough to have a good understanding of their collective psychology. Is that what Manny and staff managed to get a better grip on in year 2 & 3 than they had in year 1? It does seem that Mario is having some of the same issues Manny had late that first year with the team checking out. I'll repost the Diaz quote from after the FIU loss:

“Quite simply, we did not respect the opposition. When we play, we’re pretty dang good. When we don’t play, we’re pretty awful. And we were awful on Saturday... It is imperative for our guys to come together and find a way, as much as possible, to put last Saturday behind us. Mario uses different words for it, but aren't they essentially talking about the same thing? And if they are, you have to acknowledge that this may be a significant part of our problem. I'd really like to know more about the roots of this "culture" and why S. FL is so infested with it compared to elsewhere.

My point though, is that all of it can be true. Acknowledging a player culture problem doesn't absolve bad coaching that's been laid on top of it. All of it needs to be addressed.

Quite a bit. You could knock off various demographics in the big three states. Lots of uninterested or aged out people in each.

They don’t want to live with the fact that for the most part the schools in Florida are ****** and have failed the kids lol

OPs statement of kids from out of state being harder workers, more disciplined, and less diva-ish than s. florida players has strong racial undertones to it. Kinda like how critics in the 80s referred to the Miami teams as "inner city thugs"

I'm not sayin, but i'm just sayin

Even without the portal five years is a stretch. The young bucks on this team can still be influenced enough to the point where they start caring.

The fact is that the transfers that have come in have shown different attitude and playing over the season so far. Thats the good part. The bad part is that others have not bought in at all and basically quit.

You can have a roster turnover with this team in 2 years Thats doable.

IDK, but I can ask you the same thing, who do we want from IMG besides their current commit? IMG's overrated Bro, they're basically a better funded version of Bishop Sycamore, and they still got beat by a school with 1/10th of their resources. I still remember when IMG was a fancy tennis club with pro instruction, they let anybody call anything a school these days.

Does SFL produce some extremely high end talent? Yep. I can easily see SoFla top 5% being better than top 10-25% anywhere else.

Problem is the rest of SoFla kids are not well coached growing up, don’t have good people looking out for them and just don’t have the mental toughness to overcome adversity.

Oh, and that too 5% of SoFla kids are likely never to be in play for Miami until the culture of 7v7 is changed - we got handlers running the 7v7 show down here and sending those kids to OSU, Alabama and Georgia.

Can you imagine if a Miami Hurricane bag man tried to setup shop in Alabama, Ohio or Georgia? They would never be able to get a team up and running. Yet in the 305, the main players in the 7v7 have loyalties to other schools. Only in Florida you see that nonsense.

South Florida is no more "infested" than any other football hotbed around the Country. Matter of fact, I say the culture is better now, more kids are getting College exposure now with these camps & 7 on 7 tourneys than in my day.

The same thing happens anytime a kid leaves home for school: you're no longer around peers who have similar mindsets, you're around people who see the world differently and most (not all) kids adapt and trend to the mean

People observe more growth when they leave home because you have to adapt

Right on the nose. It is well known that cultures become stronger when there is a mixture of nationalities.

This is severely wrong.

Florida is likely the oldest population in the country.(football status)..and TEXAS, CALIFORNIA, GEORGIA are all in the back end of the 50 states.
