Florida High School football is the culprit

I mean, send this Miami team coached by Mario Cristobal to Columbus. How much do we lose by? 50? What is the difference, then? Any rational person sees a difference in the rosters.

You can say that about virtually every team in the country, regardless of the make up of their roster.

Your straw man arguments are getting worse with every passing post.

The problem is we are missing on the truly elite Florida kids, especially the south florida ones on a consistent basis. This year we've landed some yet are still missing way too many. Start landing more Innis types and this will become a moot point over time.

The Conclusion then is that we have no recruiting advantage because the south Florida talent hotbed is a myth, and we really aren’t a “special“ or unique program that only alums are Allowed to run…got it

Yes, when you take two of them and put them on a roster of 90 guys from Georgia and Tennessee, they tend to change their mindset. There are 7 schools with overwhelmingly Florida rosters, and you see the results above.
I mean, this guy is coming in with facts. South Florida culture has coddled these kids into thinking they're god's green earth to football. The play on the field and vibes in the program seem to point towards that fact.

What are you talking about? If anything, you have proved the opposite of your point.

Before the NFL season started, there were more players from Florida than any other state. Period. I presume someone can dig that graphic up.

If Florida programs suck, it is NOT because of talent, rather it is because of coaching.
if they aren't keeping elite FL talent home though...

Every program east of the Mississippi claws to get into the state for recruits, but yeah Florida kids are the problem.
And every program is recruiting the top 200-300 prospects anyway, it's not like the Canes are telling Nyck Harbor to kick rocks to free up a spot for a random kid from Miami Central.

So I guess the suggestion is intentionally do not fill out the bottom 50% of the class with the local talent base, go battle for 3* from Ohio, GA, TX etc. to achieve a different cultural equilibrium in the locker room. We need to theorycraft what the maximum allowable % of FL recruits is supposed to be under this protocol.

There are seven FBS programs in Florida. Here are the votes received in this week's AP poll:

FSU 1
UF 0
UM 0
UCF 0
USF 0
FAU 0
FIU 0

So with all the "talent" we supposedly have at our disposal, seven FBS programs received one 25th-place vote, combined. Even the second-tier schools can't beat schools that also get their states' leftovers.

There is a reason why guys like Jimbo, Urban, and Dan Mullen bailed on programs that have all the resources in the world. And there is also a reason why big-name coaches want no part of these programs. Florida high school "talent" is built only on measurables. It doesn't understand work ethic or desire. And the Florida kid, especially the south Florida kid, is all about getting paid and making highlight videos.

When I was coming up down there, SoFL had a tremendous amount of talent. I've been gone for a while, but I used to try to get home to catch HS games around Canes home games occasionally and it was still talent rich down there. I will defer to @Liberty City El , @Coach Macho and others down there to clue us in. Would love to know what's up. Go Canes 🏈

If we are saying Florida HS football is the problem then we need to say it is the adults, not the kids that are the problem.

Imo, u cannot build a roster full of So Fla kids. We’ve already discussed a toxic culture that’s infested this area. Yes, u want to keep the best of the best home, but it’ll be suicide if u don’t comb the nation for talent.

Some of our best players have come from CA, TX, LA, NJ, IL. There’s certain positions you want to be laser focused on in the back yard, namely DB, RB, & WR, but other positions like DL, QB, TE, OL, it would be prudent to scour the nation.

Showing graphics of what schools have produced the most draft picks in 10 yrs means nothing; we’ve shown graphics of schools producing the most NFL draft picks over 10 yrs w/ us on the list. In the world of football, 10 yrs = dog yrs, quickly. Things can change & evolve in a 5 yr period. Right now, CA has two of the top 5 teams in the Nation.

Yeah. We are missing on those true elites. And there aren't as many of them, IMO, as people seem to think there are.

It's hard to describe, but overall it doesn't seem like Florida HS programs, especially South Florida, are preparing players very well for what the college game has become. Too often they seem to have low football IQ, and lack on-field discipline, even if they are decent students off the field.

While we have been the worst example of this over the past few games, you can see it in varying degrees in all the other FL programs from UF to FIU.

Mario Cristobal with kids from Oregon and Washington = wins against #3 on the road
Mario Cristobal with 50 south Florida kids = loses to MTSU

Consensus: it must be the coach's fault.
No! He mostly had kids from TX and CA and top kids across different west coast states. Had #1 players in like 6 states committed last year.

I think 7 on 7 has done a lot to hurt fundamentals. The lack of physicality makes it more likely to be a crappy tackler. The second major factor is economics. Florida high school coaches are paid poverty wages compared to Georgia & Texas for example. The only leveling off are the private schools here like AmHer & Aquinas, of course we struggle to pull kids from both. There's a reason why Mario is prioritizing IMG, cuz those kids are polished. You always recruit Florida for raw talent, but evidence is starting to mount that major talent can be found in droves elsewhere as Floridians continue the exodus out of the state due to cost of living. Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, the Carolinas, Jersey, DMV, Pennsylvania will need to be hit harder & we can place emphasis on California & Arizona for qb's.
